Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- POSITION IS LOCATED IN WABAMUN, AB
- Provide exceptional customer service and assistance and sustain effective relationships with clients and patrons
- Conduct proactive patrols to ensure safety and address policy breaches, and note any concerns
- Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner
- De-escalate crisis situations, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel, including; police, fire and paramedic resources
- Exercise crowd control and evict trespassers
- Write clear and detailed reports including incident, emergency, liability and day to day reports
- Utilize two-way radios and computer applications to communicate site activities
- Handle Lost & Found items and inquires
Job Requirements:
- Have attained formal education to the level of a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
- Be duly licensed as a Security Guard by the Province of Alberta, eligible to work in Canada and be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Possess such a level of both written and spoken English language proficiency to permit effective daily communication in a position which requires a high level of constant interactive contact with the general public.
- Security staff must be of a physical condition suitable for the work environment and the expectations of the work that can be entailed
- Relevant security guard experience, no less than 1 year – preferably 2 or more years.
- Must be willing to work shift work, including weekends and holidays
- Demonstrates a passion for teamwork or has proven experience actively participating in a team environment (school, work, volunteering, or other applicable experience)
- Demonstrates the ability to think creatively and to problem solve.
- Technology – experience with CCTV and Access Control systems.
Strong computer skills - Emergency management
- Command and control
Customer service experience - Strong interpersonal skills
Able to make decisions under pressure - Be able to work independently
- 3 interview process, including being interviewed and approved by TransAlta
This site will have a 7 on 7 off schedule.
