Job Description: Purpose of Position The Product Designer provides leadership in envisioning, shaping, and advancing clear, intuitive, and user‑focused design solutions that support Market Conduct’s systems and modernization strategy. This role partners with business teams, product owners, solution architects, and developers to translate requirements into forward‑thinking, accessible user journeys, interface designs, and prototypes that align with FSRA’s regulatory vision. The position plays a key role in championing user‑centered system design that is consistent and aligned with organizational standards and meets the needs of both internal users and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides design leadership by developing user flows, wireframes, mock‑ups, and prototypes that not only meet business requirements but also advance FSRA’s long‑term digital strategy.
  • Partners with product owners, Business Product Owner Lead, Business Analysts, communications, and technical teams to shape design direction, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy, regulatory objectives, user‑centered design principles and continued stewardship.
  • Maps end-to-end business flows for Market Conduct in D365
  • Leads and influences design review practices across the organization, gathering feedback, coaching peers, and guiding iterative improvements to deliver high‑quality, future‑focused design solutions.
  • Establishes, evolves, and champions FSRA’s design documentation, style guides, and interface standards to drive organizational alignment.
  • Collaborates closely with developers, providing design leadership and clarity to support accurate, strategic implementation across platforms.
  • Interprets user research, usability testing, and insight‑gathering activities to inform strategic design recommendations to senior leadership and optimize user journeys.
  • Champions accessibility, inclusive design, and user experience excellence, ensuring digital products meet FSRA’s regulatory standards and future‑state expectations.
  • Supports the strategic vision of the solution by contributing to the design of forms, workflows, dashboards, and interfaces within Dynamics 365, Power Apps, and related Microsoft platforms.
  • Collaborates in Agile ceremonies, providing design input during backlog refinement, sprint planning, and review sessions.
  • Identifies and leads opportunities for digital simplification, operational efficiency, and long‑term user experience improvements across FSRA systems.
  • Influences senior leadership on corrective measurement and governance improvements

Qualifications Education and Experience

  • Postsecondary degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Digital Media, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in product design, UX/UI design, or service design within enterprise or technology-driven environments.
  • Experience designing on platforms such as Dynamics 365, Power Apps, or other enterprise applications is an asset.
  • Experience designing complex multi-step workflows, including component libraries and UI standards.
  • Experience designing products in a regulated environment /sector, is an asset.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Strong understanding of Dataverse fundamentals for D365.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience designing user interfaces, workflows, and digital interactions.
  • Proficiency in modern design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with AI assisted design tools; Experience with data visualization & dashboards.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery practices and collaboration tools like Azure DevOps, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards, UX principles, and responsive design practices.
  • Demonstrated support and operations mindset to triage and prioritize issue vs risk enhancements, backlog hygiene, and release management.
  • Analytical skills to develop and evaluate strategies and design services to multiple partners with varying needs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to explain design decisions clearly to both business and technical stakeholders; to discusses issues, seek common ground among partners to lead the development of collaborative solutions.
  • Proven ability to balance user needs, technical constraints, and business priorities in a structured and pragmatic way.
  • Understanding of compliance, licensing, supervision, and risk based regulatory frameworks is an asset
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into user-friendly digital experience.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 / AODA compliance; ability to design inclusive digital experiences + hands on accessibility (ex. Wave) & analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Legal, Compliance, and Risk management teams to ensure design solutions meet regulatory standards.
  • Expertise in synthesizing complex rules and policies into user journeys.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Lean product development.

The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) is a new, independent regulatory agency created to improve consumer and pension plan beneficiary protections in Ontario.

FSRA was established to replace the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) and the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario (DICO). The agency is flexible, self-funded and designed to respond rapidly to an evolving commercial and consumer environment. In this capacity, FSRA will:
