The Opportunity

Reporting to a Director, Client Engagement, the Manager serves as the project lead and is accountable for projects related to marketing and brand operations (MBO) and/or rebrand implementation. For engagements related to MBO, this involves operational opportunity analysis, brand governance structure and approach strategy, governance consulting related to people, process and technology design and project planning and management. The Manager, Brand Governance is a subject matter expert to our clients and internal teams on MBO and leads the expansion of this offering. As a seasoned consultant, this role may assist with our core offering of rebrand implementation work as needed.

Responsibilities

Marketing and Brand Operations (MBO)

  • Continuously improve MBO project delivery by identifying opportunities for improvement and using templates, tools, and best practices

  • Assess the current state of clients' people, processes, and technology to identify dependencies, challenges, gaps, and opportunities

  • Conduct technology assessments to define current and future needs, evaluate vendors, and recommend deployment options

  • Create brand governance models aligned with business and brand objectives, including guidelines and tools for physical and digital assets

  • Redesign processes and structures, including department organization, roles, responsibilities, talent alignment, and workflow plans

  • Deliver excellence to clients through benchmarking, ROI analysis, forecasting, project profitability, and technology enhancements

  • Manage brand assets, including auditing existing assets, developing strategies for retention or sunset, and creating migration strategies

  • Provide high-level roadmaps and actionable next steps, including training programs, brand ambassadorship, and technology considerations

  • Recommend industry KPIs to measure governance effectiveness and define monitoring mechanisms and reporting tools

  • Offer guidance, best practices, and benchmark data to support implementation

  • Act as a subject matter expert for brand operations technology solutions, providing strategic input and guidance

  • Train and engage internal teams as needed

  • Enhance MBO offerings and contribute to the marketing of brand technology consulting services

Project management and rebrand implementation

  • Consult with clients on project scope and delivery, providing expertise and instilling confidence

  • Define the scope of brand transition across all branded asset categories with the client and BrandActive’s team

  • Develop high-level scenarios to achieve brand launch and completion objectives using cost, time, quality, and impact as key variables

  • Provide senior leadership and their Board with information for fiscally responsible brand decisions

  • Establish high-level transition strategies by branded asset category, prioritizing those required for brand launch with longer lead times

  • Formulate and evaluate overall implementation financials and the implications of alternative strategy approaches

  • Lead large-scale collateral transition projects, including scoping, budget tracking, vendor management, and team leadership

  • Efficiently allocate and utilize resources to maintain a motivated and successful team

  • Regularly communicate project status and escalate issues to stakeholders and senior leadership

  • Manage project deliverables, scope, and change control in line with approved plans

  • Coordinate partners and work groups for project delivery

  • Lead internal and client-facing meetings

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans following PMI methodologies

  • Record, track, and manage project issues and risks

  • Monitor project progress, performance, and budget

  • Create and present deliverables, facilitating approval of recommendations

  • Review and provide guidance on new statements of work and change orders

Leadership and professional development

  • Serve as a people leader for team member(s), and provide coaching as required

  • Provide feedback that supports team member’s development and career progression, including leading by example by accepting and acting on feedback provided

  • Identify opportunities for learning and development that both address team member’s developmental needs and aspirations while keeping the company’s direction and requirements in mind

  • Manage performance and address performance concerns that arise

  • Lead semi-annual reviews for all direct reports

  • Take accountability for own development, creating and updating development plan as required, communicating with people leader around aspirations

  • Contribute to internal initiatives that impact the client and/or team member experience

  • Bring forward smarter, faster, better solutions to processes and identify opportunities to be more agile in day-to-day activities

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated commitment to life-long learning; post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate preferred
  • Three to four years of relevant experience in marketing, consulting, strategy, project management and/or analytics
  • Strong consultative skills gained through experience working as an internal consultant or in a professional services environment
  • Skill in managing the relationship with the client looking for additional for opportunities to bring value and provide additional services
  • Leadership skills to lead a team of diverse individuals, providing oversight of their work, coaching and supporting them from a developmental perspective
  • Detail-oriented, including the ability to identify important details, ensuring things are not overlooked and delivering a consistently high quality of work, keeping the overall goals of the project in mind
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong customer service experience, and the ability to identify important details while maintaining focus on the overall goals of the project to ensure the delivery of consistently high-quality work
  • Demonstrated initiative and an ability to find creative solutions
