The YMCA is already the largest provider of child care in Canada, and here in the Southern Interior of BC, we’re expanding rapidly. With 16 child care locations serving over 1,000 families—and a plan to reach over 1,200 families in the coming years—we’re looking for passionate leaders to join us.

The YMCA Child Care division is looking for a Business Administration Manager with strong leadership, supervision, and organizational skills. This individual excels at multi-tasking, takes initiative, and balances competing demands while providing exceptional service to children and families. The Business Administration Manager works as part of a collaborative team to provide customer service to families and support the registration system for the licensed child care programs and recreation camps across the Southern Interior of BC. This includes managing families monthly payments, government subsidy, billing, and reconciliation, database maintenance, and marketing components, while offering both strategic and tactical customer service system support. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Child Care, you will work closely with your colleagues and be the professional, warm, and welcoming face of the department.

  • Oversee and administer revenue close to $11 million across 16 sites
  • Lead day-to-day departmental operations, including training, coaching, team support, and creating a positive work environment where employees feel empowered, valued, and excited.
  • Optimize business processes and maintain procedures
  • Provide first-line customer service system support, including payment processing, accounting, registration and fulfillment of waitlist, and government subsidy management (Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative and Affordable Child Care Benefit)
  • Communicate directly with families and support staff in resolving issues
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information
  • Liaise with child care managers, supervisors, and teams, the association, and internal teams
  • Support in completing and submit licensing documentation for new child care sites
  • Work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision

We’d love to hear with people with:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field and a demonstrated ongoing commitment to professional development, or a bachelor’s degree in business management
  • Experience in accounting, government billing, and reconciliation is an asset
  • Understanding of the Child Care Licensing Regulations is am asset
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in business management, data entry, client registration/management software, and customer service
  • Proficiency in Excel, Canva, and other Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong interpersonal and multitasking skills
  • Experience with systems like School Care Works, Epact, and Avocado is an asset
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage a flexible full-time schedule to support staff teams

Compensation:

  • Compensation starting at $55,494
  • Full-time benefits include:
  • 3 weeks paid vacation

  • Annual Y pension of 5% (after 2 years)
