Your role In this position, you will report to the Saguenay station’s Senior Manager and mainly fulfill the role of Reporter/Researcher for the afternoon show Place publique . You will be responsible for proposing relevant topics, content and original interview angles and finding interesting guests who captivate listeners and make us stand out in the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean market.

You must be highly adaptable, be able to work under pressure and maintain a wide network of contacts.

In addition to being very familiar with the Saguenay-Lac-St-Reporter/Jean region and its influencers, you will need to show imagination and initiative and adopt a rigorous approach.

As a Reporter/Researcher, you must be able to work on multiple stories simultaneously and be well organized. Your work must also adhere to CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.

The schedule is weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. but working hours may vary to accommodate production requirements. Qualifications We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or any other relevant field
  • Three (3) years of journalism experience

Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of news and current affairs in Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean
  • Extensive general knowledge
  • Very good knowledge of research tools and techniques
  • A wide-ranging, up-to-date contact network
  • Ease on the air, especially on the radio
  • Ability to work well in a team, while being self-starting and resourceful
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices
  • Fluency in the working language (French), both spoken and written
  • English proficiency: oral and reading intermediate level, writing beginner level (an asset)
  • Willingness to work irregular hours
