Overview:
The Catering and Kitchen Manager role will oversee all catering, kitchen and food services operations including menu planning, inventory management, budgeting, staff and schedule to ensure high quality product and delivery of food service deliverables.
We are currently recruiting for 1 Full-time, Permanent Catering and Kitchen Manager. This is a new position within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Management and scheduling of Catering & Kitchen staff.
- Ensure food services training (food handler certifications); food & equipment, health & safety protocols, inspections and regulations are up-to-date and meet Provincial Guidelines O. Reg. 493/17 (Ontario Food Safety Laws and Regulations). Ensure all departmental training is up to date.
- Ensure high standards of sanitation and hygiene are implemented and inspected in a daily basis.
- Ensure all food service areas comply for a passing grade for Food Inspection at any time;
- Manage and coordinate food products, supplies & equipment services and suppliers.
- Manage Food Inventory, Supplies & Equipment Budgets
- Oversee and ensure menu diversity, allergens and healthy meal options are provided.
- Investigating and addressing complaints regarding food delivery and service.
- Establish and educate policies, procedures, records/logs, checklists and data storage for Kitchen team, equipment and services.
- Oversee Food Services and Catering Requests ticket management tool.
- Providing monthly reports, summaries and results of the Catering and Kitchen team functions.
- Creating deficiency lists and reports via inspections monthly with a follow-up and solutions actioned in a timely manner.
- Management of Kitchen Staff duties including scheduling, reviews, team meetings, performance management, correspondence & communication and preparing documentation as required.
- Oversee inventory of all food related products, equipment and supplies to ensure inventory levels are optimal and food waste is minimal
- Ensure deliveries are accurate and timely.
- Oversee maintenance and inventory of equipment.
- Manage budget, expenses and financial data, processing invoices and expense reports.
- Vendor management and processing food, supplies and equipment orders:
- Monitor and provide opportunities for operational efficiency by streamlining process, identifying areas for improvement and providing cost savings efficiencies.
- On-going communication with Kitchen staff on operational policies, procedures and systems.
- Provide support and back up to the Kitchen Supervisor and Sous Chef.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a Kitchen Services Manager role or similar position.
- Culinary experience & education (ie. ServSafe Manager Certification, Red Seal Certification, Culinary Management Certification or Designation).
- Event Planning experience an asset
- Multi-Disciplinary leadership an asset, including managing onsite and offsite teams
- Inventory & Purchasing skills
- Managing an environment with an at-risk population is an asset
- Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and stakeholder engagement
- Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a proactive and adaptable approach
- Financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- High attention to detail across operations, administration, and menu planning
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant operational systems
- Commitment to health & safety (WHMIS certified), customer service, and a positive team environment, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends
