Job Overview

Position Schedule: Full-Time

The Canadian Overlay Management team is responsible for the design, implementation, ongoing monitoring, and trading of fully discretionary multi-asset investment programs (UMA) within client accounts in a fiduciary relationship. This team has overall responsibility for all trading, rebalancing, and monitoring of client accounts within Edward Jones' UMA program, including understanding specific client request for tax-optimization or security restrictions and subsequently exercising discretion to execute trades across the program in a manner that optimizes execution and accuracy of all trade activities within regulatory requirements.

The Overlay Management team is comprised of licensed Portfolio Managers and Analysts who are experts at portfolio implementation, have deep understanding of trading and tax principles and know how to effectively balance achieving client requests for customization with delivery of high-quality model portfolio that remain aligned to their investment thesis. They will partner with the Portfolio Management team, Operations and Financial Advisors to bring Model Portfolios to life in a way that accommodates unique client requests for tax-optimization strategies and values-based investing. The team will execute on both Portfolio Manager and client instructions simultaneously and is solely responsible for scaling customization across Edward Jones UMA business while delivering performance that meets or exceeds expectations on behalf of clients.

The Senior Trade Analyst plays a key role in executing and monitoring trade activities with significant autonomy. They will be responsible for the implementation of advanced overlay strategies such as tax optimization and constraint management, while contributing to operational enhancements and supporting Financial Advisor interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the processing and review of trades resulting from sub-advisor instructions and account-level customization requests, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Support the continuous and accurate flow of trade orders, helping to identify and resolve issues that may impact execution quality.

  • Participate in daily monitoring of client accounts to ensure alignment with investment objectives and constraints; individual will be responsible for resolving routine differences identified.

  • Responsible for portfolio administrative processes including corporate action reviews, model reconciliations, and constraint management.

  • Provide operational support in identifying, researching, and resolving trade-related issues in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborate with compliance to ensure activities and processes meet regulatory requirements and internal guidelines.

  • Lead the development and documentation of operational policies and procedures to support team consistency and scalability.

  • Work closely with operations, investment manager research, product review, due diligence, and other home office partners to support cross-functional initiatives.

  • Respond to Financial Advisor inquiries directed to the Overlay team, providing clear and timely support.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the broader objectives of the Overlay Management team.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in related field

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience

  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC)

  • Enrollment in or completion of CFA or CIM designation preferred

  • Solid understanding of overlay management principles, portfolio trading processes, and investment customization strategies.

  • Advanced knowledge of various investment vehicles including mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs, and their associated trading mechanics.

  • Strong understanding of tax-related considerations impacting investment decisions, including basic principles of tax-loss harvesting and constraint implementation.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and fiduciary standards relevant to trade execution and portfolio oversight.

  • Proficiency in investment-related platforms and trading software, with preference for overlay management tools (e.g., Wealth360, Envestnet).

  • Strong data analysis skills with advanced proficiency in Excel and ability to work with performance and reconciliation data.

  • Detailed understanding of operational risk controls and compliance procedures within a managed account environment.

  • Knowledge of Edward Jones' investment philosophy and how it applies to model portfolio implementation and client-level customization.
