TERM/STATUS:

Permanent Full Time

SCHEDULE/HRS:

Monday to Friday 8:00-16:00 // 37.5 hours per week

HOURLY WAGE:

$26.64 as per collective agreement

THE ROLE: The Department Assistant provides administrative support to the Employment Services department - Jobs West and Starworks.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma.
  • Recent office experience working with Word, Excel and variety of computer software and able to type accurately at a minimum of 60 w.p.m.
  • 2 years of administrative experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in the English language.
  • Ability to respond/communicate with public and staff in a positive, professional and courteous mature manner.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain strict confidence.
  • Experience with non-profit sector and mid-sized organization in a unionized environment.

Standard requirements of the Department Assistant include:

  • Criminal Record Clearance
  • Medical Clearance
  • Class 5 Driver's License
  • Demonstrated competency in English
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Eligible to work in Canada
