Warehouse Forklift Operator (Contract), $21.50/hr

Job Description We are currently recruiting for full-time individuals who are detail orientated, organized, a team player who is self-motivated to fill the position of contract Forklift Operator on the Warehouse team based out of our Oliver, BC Production Facility.
The Role The role of a Forklift Operator is to support production with timely delivery of required packaging materials, maintain inventory control and accurate picking of orders for distribution.
- Safe Operation of Warehouse allocated Counterbalanced Forklifts.
- Storage & Delivery of required production materials to bottling lines.
- Transportation and storage of finished products within Warehouse / Distribution Centre.
- Operation of Automated Palletizer (finished goods from production lines).
- Operation of Automated De-Palletizer (bulk glass to the production line).
- Assist with freight receiving and loading as necessary.
- Stock rotation and inventory control.
- Order Picking & Put-Away.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Valid Forklift Operator Certificate.
- Strong commitment to quality with attention to detail.
- Candidate must be hands on, dependable, and self-starting.
- Good problem solving abilities along with basic logistic skills required.
- Teamwork and customer service skills.
- Ability to work rotating shifts/weekends (this position is a targeted 4 days per week at 10 hours per day Monday to Thursday. 2 weeks are AM shift from 5am to 3pm, followed by 2 weeks on PM shift from 3pm to 1am the following morning, and rotating in 2 week allotments following).
- Ability to learn and operate production support equipment – palletizers/de-palletizers.
- Knowledge of safe warehouse practices, including safe materials handling skills.
- Ability to achieve and maintain valid Forklift certification.
- Knowledge of basic inventory control principles and procedures. (FEFO: First Expired, First Out).
- Ability to understand and perform mathematic calculations.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain an organized workplace.
- First aid is an asset but not required.
- Ability to lift 55 lbs (25 KG).
- Ability to work with an automated inventory control program (training will be provided).
Working Conditions & Environment
- This position is located in a beverage/food manufacturing plant.
- Exposed to moving machinery, such as forklifts and production equipment.
- Exposed to loud noise from moving forklifts and production equipment, requires wearing hearing protection.
- Requires wearing company uniform, with company provided hairnet/beard net, and CSA approved foot ware).
- Requires flexibility with schedule, including break times and working extended hours when needed.
- Lifting: Up to 55 lbs (25 KG).
- Standing/Walking (Continuously) standing on variable surfaces throughout entire shift. Climbing (Occasionally) in and around equipment.
- Squatting/Stooping/Kneeling: (Occasionally) to as low as ground level while cleaning.
- Repetitive use of hand/grasping: (Occasionally) light to forceful manipulating/grasping of product.
- Reaching above shoulder height (Occasionally) light to forceful manipulating/grasping of product or product coverings.
