POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Physiotherapist position is under the Teachers’ Collective Agreement and will follow the school calendar.
Reporting to the Clinical Supervisor of Developmental Supports, the Supervisor of Clinical Services – Physiotherapy will be required
to provide supervision, including the assessment of clinical skills, for a provisionally certified clinician as required for permanent
certification. The number of hours will be determined in the Letter of Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Physiotherapy services may include:
- Strengths-based, identity-affirming assessment of student motor function and access needs.
- Program recommendations tailored to diverse cultural, developmental, and physical needs.
- Demonstration of movement strategies, positioning, and physical support techniques.
- Recommendations for inclusive environmental modifications.
- Identification, recommendation, and training on the use of therapy or adaptive equipment.
- Collaboration with the medical community to support continuity of care.
- Consultation with caregivers, educators, and support staff to promote physical inclusion.
- Delivery of in-service training and staff development grounded in trauma-informed and equity-based frameworks.
QUALIFICATIONS & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree.
- Permanent Manitoba School Clinician Certificate (Physiotherapy)
- Five years (full-time equivalent) experience as a Physiotherapist, working with children (preferably in a school setting or with
the local Regional Health Authority).
- Member in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba (CPM).
- Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) preferred.
- Eligible for or in possession of a current School Clinicians Certificate in Physiotherapy.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Experience applying inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices.
- Strong communication, organization, and capacity-building skills that support staff learning and student access.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Clear report from the Child Abuse Registry.
- Respect In School or Commit To Kids certification.
- Review and comply with divisional policies and guidelines.
- Valid drivers’ licence and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
