Project Manager, Development
About the role
Role Impact: The Project Manager, will support the Director to monitor, review and advise/recommend on overall process of pre-development and construction projects on a frequent basis, provide technical and management functions throughout the design, pre-construction, construction and post construction phases of the project. The Project Manager, will liaise with other internal departments, outside consultants and contractors and assist the Director in leading cross functional teams on various aspects of construction projects to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget. Additionally, the Project Manager, will assist to arbitrate, negotiate and advise internally and externally including with government agencies; establish new business partnerships and assist with the updating or revision of corporate policies as required in order to protect Cadillac Fairview’s contractual position and ensure finished project meets contracted standards. This role will support the Director on projects up to $100M and may lead smaller projects up to $30M.
What you will deliver:
- Review consultants’ reports, invoices, project documents, correspondence, development information and leases; review and approve monthly payment certificates
- Monitor scheduled events, project milestones and submission of required information
- Schedule activities for completion of projects and works on a day-to-day basis to handle unexpected requests and deadlines
- Maintain strong working relationship with the internal and external project stake holders
- Work with the consultants to negotiate credits and/or extras for revised scope of work and to assist with implementing a value engineering process when necessary.
- Organize meetings and meet with contractors/consultants to review scope of contract and impact of alternatives in reducing time and costs
- Assist with preparation of pro-forma/budget/schedules
- Assist with the selection of consultants/contractors
- Prepare Monthly Project Status Reports
- Support Corporate Internal Audit Processes
- Stay current with community issues and construction and related technologies
- Be familiar with, understand and apply CF policies and procedures, federal, provincial and municipal legislation and regulations (e.g. Health & Safety, Environmental).

- Solid working knowledge of the Building Code and Industry related technology.
What you need to succeed:
- An undergraduate degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction/Project Management or Technical Diploma or Certificate in similar industry disciplines combined with relevant experience.
- 5 - 7 years of relevant and progressive experience in one of the following areas; construction (both field and office), real estate development, architecture or other engineering disciplines.
- LEED and or PMP accreditation would be an asset.
- Proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Project or Primavera
