The University of Alberta’s Human Resources, Health, Safety and Environment (HRHSE) department is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Consultant to join its Talent Management team.
This is a unique, hands-on opportunity to gain exposure to core Talent Management functions within a diverse HRHSE team in a large, complex organization. The successful candidate will lead and support high-impact initiatives that are critical to enhancing workforce engagement, performance, and development across the university.
As a Centre of Expertise (CoE) within the Organizational Development and Talent Management (ODTM) unit of HRHSE, the Talent Management team is a strategic partner committed to supporting the university's academic and operational excellence.
We drive critical initiatives across a wide array of areas, from talent acquisition and performance management to Faculty and Staff engagement and recognition. We build strong relationships with university leaders and key Human Resource (HR) partners to implement customized talent solutions that align with the university's mission and vision. -Strategic Evolution of Recognition Programs: Lead the advancement of the university’s recognition framework. You will ensure all recognition practices are strategically aligned with the Forward Together People Strategy, weaving recognition into the university’s cultural fabric to drive faculty and staff engagement, and long-term retention. -End-to-End Delivery of Formal Recognition: Oversee the full lifecycle of the university’s formal recognition programs and signature events, such as the Celebration of Service. This includes managing nomination and adjudication processes and collaborating with a wide array of internal partners to execute high-impact ceremonies. -Advancement of Everyday Recognition Practices: Develop and implement informal recognition resources and tools that empower faculty and staff to deliver frequent, peer-to-peer, and values-based recognition. You will champion a culture where recognition is integrated into the daily experience of faculty and staff. -Impact Analytics and Continuous Improvement: Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the reach and effectiveness of recognition initiatives. By analyzing the correlation between recognition activities and broader engagement metrics (e.g., survey results), you will ensure programs remain innovative, evidence-based, and responsive to the evolving needs of the institution. -Integrated Talent Management Support: Collaborate with the broader Talent Management team to support wider organizational development initiatives. You will contribute to the enhancement of performance management frameworks, onboarding experiences, and engagement initiatives, ensuring a cohesive and holistic approach to the employee lifecycle.
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field is required. An equivalent combination of education and professional experience will also be considered.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in human resources management, talent management, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in designing institutional recognition and performance management frameworks, coupled with a deep understanding of organizational culture and employee engagement.
- Dedication to expanding and growing in the field of Talent Management within the University of Alberta.
- A highly motivated, creative, passionate, resilient, and proactive approach to work.
- Dedication to continuous learning and familiarization of HR trends and talent management best practices.
