Position Overview

The Community Evaluator plays a critical role in advancing livability in Canmore by collecting, analyzing, and reporting on key indicators that reflect the well-being of the community. This position supports evidence-based decision-making and fosters collaboration across sectors by providing timely, relevant, and actionable data. The Community Evaluator’s work informs strategic planning, program evaluation, and resource allocation to ensure that community needs are effectively met. The Community Evaluator is responsible for coordination of community social programs. Functions include program development, planning, implementation and evaluation, partnership development, networking, group presentation, client support, and relevant Town of Canmore administrative tasks.

Core Accountabilities

Data Collection and Community Assessment Collect quantitative and qualitative data from multiple community sources to identify trends and gaps in livability Conduct community needs assessments and surveys to understand local priorities and challenges Establish and maintain relationships with interest holders to gather comprehensive information Organize data collection processes that are systematic, accessible, and respectful of community members Analysis and Reporting Analyze collected data using statistical methods and indicators to identify patterns and insights Translate complex information into clear, accessible reports and visualizations for diverse audiences Present findings to municipal leadership, community groups, and interest holders in professional formats Document methodologies and results to support evidence-based decision-making Community Engagement and Collaboration Identify, create, and lead community-focused working groups to address livability priorities Foster collaborative partnerships across sectors to strengthen data collection and program evaluation efforts Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders with varied levels of technical understanding Build trust and connection with diverse community members through respectful and inclusive engagement Coordinate, lead, and evaluate public-serving social programs Technology and Platform Management Utilize web-based platforms and mapping software (e.g., ArcGIS) to organize and visualize community data Maintain databases and information systems to ensure accuracy and accessibility of community indicators Stay current with relevant technology and evaluation tools to enhance reporting capabilities Strategic Support and Planning Provide timely and actionable data to inform strategic planning, program evaluation, and resource allocation Support municipal departments in understanding community needs and measuring program effectiveness Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while adapting to changing community needs and organizational demands Health and Safety Fulfill worker responsibilities under the Town of Canmore Health & Safety Directive Participate in the Town's health and safety program, following all safety legislation, policies, and procedures Perform work safely and protect the health and safety of self and others Refrain from causing or participating in harassment or violence Report incidents, injuries, and unsafe or harmful worksites, acts, or conditions Key Competencies Applies self-awareness and emotional regulation to remain effective and composed in a variety of situations, recognizing and responding appropriately to the emotions of self and others, fostering positive relationships and a respectful, supportive environment Exemplifies a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional growth by actively seeking opportunities to build knowledge, skills, and competencies. Consistently seeks opportunities to improve processes, services, and outcomes by identifying inefficiencies and implementing effective solutions Education & Qualifications: Required Post-secondary education in human services and/or statistics Three years of experience in data collection, community assessment, program evaluation, or related fields Demonstrated proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods Experience developing surveys, conducting interviews, or facilitating focus groups with diverse community members Proficiency with data management tools, statistical software, or database systems Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate complex information for diverse audiences Experience collaborating with multiple departments, organizations, or interest holders to gather and share information Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines Preferred/Asset Experience with geospatial analysis software such as ArcGIS or similar mapping platforms Background in community development, public health, municipal planning, or social research Experience designing and implementing community engagement initiatives or working groups Familiarity with livability frameworks, quality of life indicators, or community well-being assessment tools Certificate or formal training in evaluation methods, statistics, or research design Experience presenting findings to municipal leadership, boards, or community stakeholders Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, respectful engagement with diverse community members Knowledgeable about local resources Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License Salary & Benefits: Pay Range- $39.49 to $43.34 per hour to start.
