Summary:
The role of our Leaves Administrators is to process, analyze and manage requests for leaves and accommodation based on employee eligibility and entitlement, applicable legislation, and client specific policies, to communicate clearly with clients and their employees on all aspects of the leaves and accommodation process and to ensure that ongoing management is within Telus Health’s best practices. The Leaves Administrator assesses any barriers to a successful and timely return to work, engages stakeholders to implement strategies to address any identified barriers and supports the return-to-work process.
This position may be based from a remote/home office anywhere in Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Process, analyze and manage requests for accommodation in the workplace, and leaves based on employee eligibility and entitlement, applicable provincial and/or federal legislation or client specific policies
- Conduct telephone interviews, contacting the employee and their leader or Human Resources Representative by telephone and email as applicable to explain the leaves management or accommodation process, employee accountabilities and gather information for assessment purposes
- Analyze medical information and documentation provided to ensure compliance to requirements for each leave type or request for accommodation
- Perform validation of leave eligibility and entitlement, and accommodation needs
- Prepare written communication for all stakeholders confirming the outcome of your review based on the employee’s request, eligibility, and entitlement, or confirming the outcome of your adjudication
- Communicate proactively with the client’s designate regarding any issues that impact the employee’s leave, the workplace or return to work
- Maintain accountability and responsibility for assigned case load in managing required tasks and relationships with stakeholders
- Ensure an appropriate return to work plan is communicated with the employer and employee
- When applicable, manage a seamless transition to Short Term Disability (STD) to the STD insurer
- Provide any of the following interventions where the need is identified: Employee and Family Assistance Program contact, medical treatment or assessment interventions, utilization of specialized resources or consultations, etc.
- Attend Case Management and Disability/Leaves Management department team meetings, as well as client meetings as needed
- Support other projects as assigned
Succeeding as a Leaves Administrator will require the following core qualifications and skills:
- Diploma with specialization in Occupational Health, Rehabilitation, Legislation related to Leaves and/or Disability Management, Disability Insurance, or Administration
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in Human Resources, Leaves Management, Disability Management, administration and/or customer service
- Good computer skills including intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word
- Strong communication skills with exceptional customer service focus
- Exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to approach difficult situations with empathy and sensitivity
- Detail oriented focus with ability to work independently in fast paced environment
- Excellent problem solving skills and ability to apply critical thinking to execute decision making on complex situations
Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000
Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience.
