This contract position is eligible for the following: - Annual Salary Range: $56,493 - $70,616 - Payment in Lieu of Benefits (for contracts over 12 months) - Employee Assistance Program - Eligibility to participate in the OMERS pension plan - Paid time off, including vacation and incidental days (for contracts over 6 months) - Employee perks/discounts: Discount on Active Living Pass and Perkopolis - Flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work options and participation in the Town’s compressed work-week program (for eligible positions) Position Summary Reporting to the Supervisor, Licensing & Enforcement, Compliance this position is primarily focused on school based foot patrols, with an emphasis on visibility, compliance, and parking safety during school arrival and dismissal periods. When not conducting school based parking patrols, officers will provide general parking enforcement support and deliver education to school communities, reinforcing the Town’s parking enforcement program and the importance of parking compliance in maintaining safe school environments. Major Job Responsibilities Investigates and identifies parking by-law infractions Creates, opens and updates electronic investigation files Provides assistance and information regarding general parking regulations, patrols and enforcement Works closely with other municipal departments and agencies Initiates legal proceedings Issues penalty notices under the Town’s Administrative Penalty System Prepares for and attends, tribunal hearings and presents evidence regarding violations of the Town’s parking by-laws Patrols and responds to complaints and requests for enforcement of parking prohibitions throughout the Town of Milton, including Regional Roads and private properties Conducts vehicle and foot patrols for on/off street parking violations and park patrols Patrols assigned areas, responds to, and documents all inquiries and complaints from the public, law enforcement agencies Coordinates towing of unauthorized vehicles in accordance with Halton Regional Police and Tow Policies Education & Experience Minimum Qualifications Certificate/diploma in Police Studies/ Foundations, Law & Security, Justice & Administration or related field Minimum two (2) years’ experience of enforcing regulatory by-laws. Experience interpreting by-laws and provincial legislation pertaining to municipal law enforcement and licensing Ability to obtain a Certified Municipal Law Enforcement Officer designation A valid Ontario Driver’s License Class G with a satisfactory driving record Knowledge of Provincial Offences Act, municipal by-laws, enforcement processes and court procedures Strong problem solving skills and proven ability to resolve disputes in a manner that supports a high level of customer service Proficient in Windows based software including Word, Outlook, Excel in addition to municipal software applications Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening Preferred Qualifications Successful completion of Part 1 MLEOA Foundations training Note to Applicants This posting is for an existing job vacancy.
