Our client is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Merchandising to join their team. This role is responsible for assortment planning, vendor negotiations, merchandising strategy, marketing collaboration, and financial performance for the assigned portfolio. The successful candidate will bring strong industry knowledge, proven negotiation skills, and the ability to drive category growth through market insights and operational excellence.

Your Success Will Be Defined By Your Ability To

• Develop and execute assortment strategies to achieve financial targets
• Negotiate with vendors to secure competitive terms and market positioning
• Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive positioning
• Oversee supply chain and inventory management, including forecasting and promotional stock levels
• Implement and maintain retail store inventory and display plans
• Collaborate with marketing teams to create product content, pricing, and promotional materials
• Review in-store merchandising for compliance with standards (signage, displays, pricing)
• Analyze and report on sales, profitability, and inventory performance
• Develop and deliver product knowledge training programs nationally

Your strengths include:

• 5+ years of retail industry experience, with a strong understanding of merchandising and inventory management
• Proven ability to build product assortments and manage category performance
• Strong negotiation and vendor relationship management skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities
• Highly organized with strong time management skills
• Analytical skills for financial and sales performance evaluation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail systems
• Ability to travel as required
• High school diploma required; post-secondary education is an asset
