Trillium Health Partners is recruiting a Senior Project Manager for Information, Communication, and Automation Technology (ICAT) to oversee IT and medical equipment planning for major hospital redevelopment projects. This full-time role involves coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration of healthcare IT systems aligned with construction and operational goals.

Position Overview Working with the Trillium HealthWorks project team, other THP staff and external consultants, this position will play a role coordinating a wide range of activities relating to the planning, specifications, procurement and redeployment of medical equipment technology for the Q-site and M-site Redevelopment Projects. Reporting to the Director, ICAT Planning & Harmonization, the Project Manager will act as one of the hospital’s representatives in discussions with a multi-disciplinary team of hospital professionals, department stakeholders, architects and consultants in the planning and development of ICAT requirements .

Here’s What You Will Get To Do

  • Working with project leadership, you will be strategically planning IT projects for the new Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital and the new Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre.
  • Developing a road map of IT implementations for the next 5 years.
  • Oversee the integration of healthcare information systems within the new hospital construction project, ensuring alignment with architectural and construction plans.
  • Lead the implementation and integration of healthcare information systems.
  • Oversee the installation of network infrastructure, data centers, and other IT facilities within the new hospital.
  • Upholding the THP Strategic Plan, design standards and ensuring the project is planned according to the Trillium HealthWorks Projects’ Goals, Objectives, and Benefits.
  • Identify potential risks related to construction and IT implementation and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
  • Consulting with vendors to ensure physical space, operational requirements, and utility requirements are carried out in the equipment database accurately.
  • Working in compliance with Infection Control standards, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, ensuring their inclusion in the planning of all aspects of the project.
  • Organizing, managing, and ensuring documentation of all user group engagement, planning, follow-up, signoffs, implementation, and evaluation processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in project management.
  • Monitoring complex scheduling, including micro-schedules, to ensure that all phases in the planning of the work proceed on time.
  • Being responsible for project controls, monitoring, tracking, maintaining, reporting, of internal documents to identify risks, opportunities and manage project timelines and budget;
  • Performs cross-functional duties as assigned and/or requested; performing other duties consistent with the job classification as required.

Key Criteria

  • University degree or College diploma in engineering, biomedical engineering, information systems, architecture, or a health care related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the Information Technology field in an acute hospital is mandatory
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the leading, planning, specification, selection, and deployment of major IT projects
  • Experience and familiarity with P3, AFP, and BF and DBFM method of procurement essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with hospital operations and environments
  • Detailed knowledge of Ontario Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care capital planning processes;
  • Comprehensive experience planning, managing, and implementing health capital projects, including space and program planning;
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills;
  • Strong planning and analytical skills
  • Solid leadership abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Superior interpersonal and conflict management skills are required .
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including, at a minimum, Word, Excel, MS Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint .
  • The ability to read architectural, mechanical, structural, and electrical drawings is considered an asset.
  • Experience and familiarity with P3, AFP, or the DBFM method of procurement is essential.

Location: We offer employees in roles that are conducive to remote work, flexibility, and the right mix of remote and in-office work (approximately 80/20). Acknowledging that the primary works space will be remote work from home, there will be times when onsite presence is appropriate just as there will be times when onsite presence may not be possible.

The expectation is that remote work locations, as part of the Flex First program, will be in the employee’s place of residence, and adhere to all THP policies and procedures, with special consideration towards privacy. Since employees should be available to return to the workplace with 24 hours’ notice, remote work outside of the province or country is not acceptable.
