Who You'll Do
The Construction Technical Office (CTO) is a newly established team within CJV, created to bridge the gap between design and construction across our active major civil sites. The Construction Coordinator supports the CTO by coordinating engineering services during construction at station, grade separation, and bridge modification sites, acting as the day-to-day technical interface between the construction team and design consultants. This is a primarily site-based role. You will be embedded in the construction environment, helping the site team navigate design documents, track technical submissions, and resolve field issues in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day coordination of engineering services between site teams and design consultants across active station construction sites.
- This is a site-based role that will coordinate closely with construction teams to monitor progress, identify emerging technical issues, and support timely resolution.
- Facilitate technical discussions and coordination meetings between construction supervisors, designers, and other project stakeholders.
- Support constructability reviews of design packages in close collaboration with the construction team, identifying practical issues early.
- Prepare basic field sketches and mark-ups using AutoCAD to support field queries, design clarifications, and site communications where required.
- Coordinate the review and tracking of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), Site Instructions (SIs), and shop drawings between the site and design consultants.
- Monitor the status of outstanding submissions, escalate overdue items, and maintain trackers to keep the CTO team and site team informed.
- Ensure the construction team has access to the current approved revision of all design documents, and that superseded drawings are promptly removed from circulation.
- Support interface management between design packages, construction sequences, utilities, and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines (civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical) to support integrated delivery of station works.
- Ability to read and interpret multi-disciplinary drawings and specifications, identify coordination gaps, and communicate issues clearly to the relevant designers or site supervisors.
- Proactively identify, monitor, and escalate risks and issues that may impact construction progress or quality at station sites.
- Support the management of design changes, including tracking impacts to scope, cost, schedule, and risk.
- Prepare and maintain dashboards, logs, and visual trackers to monitor outstanding RFIs, ITPs, SIs, and other technical submissions.
Who You Bring
University or college degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline.
- 4+ years of experience in design coordination, construction coordination, or project management on major infrastructure projects.
- Experience in active major civil infrastructure or transit projects is a strong asset.
- Ability to read and interpret civil and structural drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and site operations for civil works, including earthworks, structures, and drainage.
- Experience coordinating ITPs, RFIs, SIs, and shop drawings in a construction environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced site environment.
- Familiarity with document management platforms (e.g., Procore, ACC, Aconex) is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Bluebeam Revu is an asset.
- Professional designations such as P.Eng. or PMP are assets; candidates working toward their designation (e.g., EIT, CAPM) are encouraged to apply.
- Willingness and ability to work primarily on-site across GTA project locations as required.
Expected compensation for this role is between $70,000.00-$85,000.00 annually. Base salaries are determined according to multiple factors including skills, experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into consideration. In addition to base salary ONxpress also offers a comprehensive medical and dental program, RRSP with company matching and the potential to participate in our discretionary, performance based bonus program.
