About the Role
We are currently looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join our team for the Summer 2026 Co-op Term. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor this role will assist with completing the production process of our industry leading genetic products that are used on farms for healthy dairy and beef herds around the world. This is an in-person role, working a night or day shift.
This position offers an hourly wage of $21.00 an hour for a standard 37.5 hour work week.
What You Will Do:
- Use of accepted protocols to ensure that all processes required for routine semen production meet established quality and quantity guidelines
- Routine volume and photometric evaluation
- Labeling, fill-sealing, racking, extender-supplies, lab collection equipment hygiene, lab
- cleanliness, and liquid nitrogen dispensing
- Lab database management and maintenance of records and lab material inventories
- Participating in occasional staff meetings
What You Need to Succeed:
- Currently enrolled in a post secondary diploma or degree in Biotechnology, Science, Agriculture, or a related field
- Experience in a lab production facility preferred but not required
- Understanding of lab production, quality control, production database maintenance and
- recording
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Physically fit with acute manual dexterity, and able to stand for long periods of time
- Able to tolerate work in the cold room environment with temperatures ranging from 3°C
- Knowledge of the agriculture industry is an asset
