About The Role The Multimedia Specialist Summer Student supports the Communications & Marketing team by assisting with basic multimedia tasks that contribute to SOCAN’s digital content and communications activities. Working alongside experienced team members, the student will gain exposure to multimedia production in a professional environment. The role provides an opportunity to observe and support the development of visual content such as short videos, photography, and digital assets used for SOCAN’s website, social media, and internal communications. This position is intended as a learning opportunity for a student interested in multimedia, digital media, or communications.
Multimedia Support WHAT YOU’LL DO / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist team members with basic multimedia tasks related to video, photography, and digital content
- Support the preparation and organization of multimedia materials used in SOCAN communications
- Observe and assist during video or photo content capture when opportunities arise
- Help with simple editing tasks such as trimming clips, formatting files, or preparing images for digital use under guidance
Content Organization
- Assist with organizing and maintaining digital multimedia files
- Help label, catalogue, and store photo and video assets according to team guidelines
- Support basic preparation of visual content for use on digital platforms
General Support
- Provide general administrative or coordination support to the Communications & Marketing team as needed
- Participate in team meetings and creative discussions to learn about SOCAN’s communications and content processes
- Learn and follow best practices related to copyright, privacy, and consent when working with multimedia content
What You Will Bring / Qualifications & Experience
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Media Production, Film, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field
- Interest in multimedia, photography, video, or digital content creation
- Basic familiarity with multimedia tools or editing software is an asset
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and contribute in a team environment
- Interest in music, arts, or cultural industries is considered an asset
