Location: Surrey, British Columbia Job Description: Position: Class 1 Driver - BC Type: Full-Time Wage: $31.26 per hour Reports to: Transportation Manager Location: Surrey, BC This route will cover operations in BC, mostly in the BC Interior, but occasionally in the Vancouver mainland. What will you do? The Driver AZ/DZ is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods to assigned locations. This role involves maintaining compliance with company policies, ensuring the timely delivery of shipments, accurate completion of paperwork, and adherence to all safety standards. Responsibilities Pre-Trip Preparation: Coordinate with the Transportation Manager or Coordinator for next-day details such as start times, routes, and necessary addresses. Perform vehicle and equipment inspections, including lift gates, pallet jacks, and safety equipment like pylons, snow shovels, salt/sand, and ice scrapers (seasonal). Verify all paperwork, keys, and store-specific details (e.g., phone numbers, security codes). Ensure load security and confirm skid counts before leaving the facility. Delivery Operations: Follow the assigned Driver’s Run Sheet for delivery routes and timelines. Use safety protocols such as pylons for truck positioning and wheel chocks at loading docks. Unload and verify shipments using barcodes and delivery reports, addressing any anomalies or damaged goods. Perform deliveries based on store requirements, including drop pallet, hand bomb, or dock-to-dock methods. Engage with store employees as needed, while securing vehicle and documents at all times. Post-Trip and Maintenance: Refuel vehicles at designated depots and perform a complete post-trip inspection. Clean and sweep the truck/trailer, ensuring no garbage or wet floors remain. Submit all required paperwork and report any defects or anomalies to the Transportation Manager or Coordinator. Maintain and recharge electric pallet jack batteries as needed. Handle returns, ensuring proper documentation and organization in the warehouse. General Duties: Maintain compliance with all safety and company policies at all times. Communicate effectively with supervisors and follow instructions for future runs or concerns. Ensure accurate documentation, including verifying shipment accuracy and handling any discrepancies. Qualifications & Experience Valid AZ/DZ license with a clean driving record. Experience operating commercial vehicles, including trucks with lift gates and pallet jacks. Strong understanding of safety procedures and inspection processes. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and adapt to schedule changes. Strong communication skills for interacting with store employees and team members. Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including winter. Physical capability to handle equipment and perform delivery tasks, including lifting and moving goods. Flexibility to accommodate changes in schedules and delivery routes. Compensation: The targeted hourly wage for this position is $31.26 per hour. Ready to join the team?
