We’re hiring an IT & AV Coordinator to join our world class team at Sonora Resort, a luxury all-inclusive Relais & Chateaux Resort, in the unspoiled wilderness of British Columbia. Nestled in the Discovery Islands, Sonora Resort is a remote location accessed by water taxi from the town of Campbell River on Vancouver Island. This is a Seasonal position that works on site at the Resort in shift work rotations, with the possibility of becoming a full-time position (with a short seasonal leave of absence) for the right candidate. Seeking a start date in Late January to early February 2026.

All staff are provided with complimentary single bedroom accommodations. Complimentary wifi, cable TV and internet calling provided in each staff room.

Shift work is required from April until October; comprised of 10-14 working days and 4 non-working working days, subject to change during peak season; employees are expected to be flexible in their scheduling to meet the needs of the business.

Water taxi transportation is provided to and from Campbell River for scheduled work shifts

Staff are required to leave the resort on their scheduled non-working days and are responsible for securing further transportation and accommodation thereafter.

Position Summary The IT & AV Coordinator is a dual-role position blending technical expertise with guest-centric service delivery. This role ensures seamless technology experiences for guests and staff while maintaining the sophisticated technical infrastructure required of a Relais & Châteaux property. The ideal candidate possesses strong troubleshooting skills and interpersonal finesse to support guests and colleagues in a remote luxury environment.
Job Duties Technical Infrastructure & Support
- Serve as the on-site technical resource for Head Office IT team, executing system updates, installations, and troubleshooting protocols as directed
- Maintain and optimize all resort technology systems, including network infrastructure, switches, access points, and cabling
- Monitor and ensure WiFi connectivity throughout the property maintains optimal speed and stability, proactively addressing coverage gaps or performance issues
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and upgrading of technology systems as the resort evolves
- Provide comprehensive technical support for audio-visual systems, including conference center equipment, home theatre, golf simulators, satellite television distribution, and integrated AV/lighting control systems
- Coordinate with Head Office IT team and approved vendors to resolve technical issues efficiently and minimize guest impact
- Conduct preventive maintenance on all equipment in coordination with the Maintenance Manager
- Document system configurations and maintain current technical inventories
Guest & Event Technology Services
- Design and execute technical aspects of guest events, including musical performances, presentations, and private functions
- Provide personalized technology orientation and support to guests, ensuring seamless use of in-room and resort-wide systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve guest personal device connectivity issues, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other personal technology
- Anticipate and proactively address potential technical needs for VIP and high-value guests
Operational Support
- Provide front desk coverage and general guest services duties as scheduled
- Process fishing licenses and handle guest financial transactions within established protocols
- Mentor staff on appropriate use of resort technology systems
- Operate resort vehicles safely in accordance with property standards
Qualifications
- Applicant must be legally eligible to work in Canada and fluent in English. Second languages are an asset.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in an IT related environment.
- Thorough understanding of the operations of corporate IT management; experience in a live-in resort environment is preferred.
- High School Diploma required. Technical School or University/College certification in an IT related field would be an asset.
- Any additional education or experience working with technology support in a corporate environment (SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange, File Servers, VLAN’s, etc.) would be an asset.
- Familiarity with Opera (or other Property Management Systems), SQL and databases (MSSQL, Oracle), Database Reporting (SSRS, Tableau, etc.), iOS devices, document formatting, Vantage Controls, Crestron Remote Control Products, and projectors are all assets.
- Experience with point-of-sale software/hardware and their associated processes.
- Experience with VoIP hotel phone systems.
- Experience in satellite TV installations, troubleshooting and repairs.
- Inventory management and control experience.
- Experience with photography/videography, photo correction/organization and organization using Adobe CS products an asset.
- First Aid & AED certificates are an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Professional telephone/office manners.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with keen attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- High Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 - including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Be capable of fulfilling physical requirements of the job: Repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, combination of standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time, bending, crouching, kneeling.
