Company Description The IWA–Forest Industry Pension & LTD Plans were established to support Canadian forestry workers and their families by providing pension, disability, and rehabilitation benefits. With over five billion in assets, more than 350 participating employers, and 65,000 pension plan members, the organization ranks among Canada’s top 100 pension funds and is one of the top three private pension funds in British Columbia. Role Description The Manager, Pensions is a full-time, on-site role based in Burnaby, BC, responsible for overseeing the administration of pension benefits for plan members and participating employers. This position manages daily operations related to pension calculations, retirements, terminations, and member inquiries, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of services. The role includes leading and coaching a team, developing and refining pension administration processes and working with other senior management. The Manager, Pensions monitors regulatory changes and plan provisions, supports governance and reporting requirements, and contributes to process development and system improvements. This person also promotes a member-focused service culture and participates in strategic initiatives to enhance plan efficiency and member experience.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess skills in pension administration, including plan operations, member servicing, and benefits processing. Candidates should possess knowledge of defined benefit plans and related regulatory and compliance requirements. Candidates should possess finance-related skills, including analytical abilities, reporting, and understanding of pension fund management principles. Relevant post-secondary education in finance, business, actuarial science, or a related field; professional designations (e.g., CEBS, FCIA) are an asset. Experience managing teams in a pension, benefits, or financial services environment, with strong leadership and coaching capabilities. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and proficiency in pension administration systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to member-centered service and collaborative work within a small office environment.
