Nature & Scope
Reporting to the Director, Capital Projects and Administration, the Manager, Lease and Property Management provides strategic leadership in the oversight of property and lease operations across assigned facilities. This role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, service quality, and cost efficiency. Key responsibilities include developing and managing budgets, overseeing vendor and contractor relationships, and ensuring alignment with the Facilities and Asset Development Team. The Manager also leads initiatives to optimize the lease portfolio, coordinates with external stakeholders such as landlords and regulatory authorities, and ensures effective resource allocation for facility maintenance and lease administration. The Manager supervises one direct report, providing guidance and support to ensure effective performance and development.
Major Responsibilities**-** in this position, you will**:**
- Lead property and lease operations across assigned facilities (childcare), ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, service quality, and cost efficiency.
- Manage lease agreements, including negotiations, renewals, and adherence to lease provisions.
- Develop and oversee budgets and financial performance related to lease and facility operations.
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships to ensure timely and effective maintenance and service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for leased spaces and facilities.
- Align operational strategies with the Facilities and Asset Development Team to support organizational goals.
- Optimize the lease portfolio to achieve cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders, including landlords and regulatory authorities.
- Oversee resource allocation for facility maintenance and lease administration.
- Prepare and maintain accurate reporting and documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
- Responsible for providing guidance, support and performance management to direct report.
Qualification**-you bring:**
- Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5–7 years of experience in a leadership role managing commercial leasing and property management teams.
- Valid property management license.
- Strong knowledge of governing legislation, including WorkSafe BC, Building Code, Fire Code, and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Proven expertise in commercial leasing, negotiations, and lease portfolio optimization.
- Experience resolving complex real estate disputes and managing landlord-tenant relationships.
- Proficiency with CMMS software is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to develop budgets, manage financial performance, and oversee vendor and contractor relationships.
- Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
