We’re seeking a strategic and driven Director, Business Development & Partnerships to join our Marketing & Growth team. In this high-impact leadership role, you’ll design and execute B2B strategies that unlock revenue growth, foster meaningful partnerships, and help HRPA deliver extraordinary value to the HR community. This role is ideal for a results-oriented leader who thrives in consultative sales, builds long-term client relationships, and knows how to motivate a high-performing team.

Location: Toronto (Hybrid) | Type: Full-Time Contract (12 to 15 months)
Salary: $120,000–$130,000 |Benefits: 10% in lieu of benefits/RRSP

What You’ll Do

Drive Sales & Business Development Strategy

  • Build and execute business development plans that deliver on revenue and margin goals, with a strong emphasis on event sponsorships, as well as partnerships, advertising, job board sales, and more.
  • Lead the full sales cycle, from opportunity identification to closing and fulfillment, across inbound and outbound channels.
  • Own sales forecasting, pipeline management, and performance metrics to monitor success and evolve strategy in real time.
  • Bring an entrepreneurial mindset to identifying and packaging new B2B sales assets.

Build & Lead Meaningful Client Relationships

  • Act as a trusted advisor, not just a vendor, help partners see the long-term value in engaging with HRPA.
  • Negotiate contracts with new and existing partners, ensuring alignment between client needs and HRPA’s value proposition.
  • Represent HRPA at conferences and events, cultivating new relationships and staying on top of emerging trends.

Lead the Team & Cross-Collaborate

  • Guide a team of 3 through coaching, mentorship, and clear target-setting.
  • Foster collaboration across internal teams to deliver integrated, win-win solutions.
  • Champion inclusive leadership practices that reflect HRPA’s IDEA values.

What We’re Looking For

You’re not just a sales leader, you’re a connector, builder, and strategist. You balance hustle with heart and never lose sight of your why.

  • 10+ years in business development, with 5+ years in sales leadership and a strong record of exceeding sales KPIs.
  • Proven experience in event sponsorship sales along with advertising, or partnerships.
  • Ideally in professional services, non-profit, or membership-based organizations.
  • Experience leading a high-performing team and developing others through inclusive leadership.
  • Strong consultative selling skills; you understand your client’s goals and tailor solutions that create lasting impact.
  • Expertise in sales forecasting, CRM tools, and pipeline management.
