What you’ll do
Regional Operations is the sustaining business owner and the liaison between CTC and the Third-Party Logistics (3PL) facility operators and is responsible for working with the 3PL to ensure operational effectiveness in the 3PL DCs. The Regional Operations Team supports the 3PLs in physical and process improvements to help them meet and exceed service level and budget targets.
Regional Operations works closely with the 3PLs and internal groups including Non-Merch Procurement, the Operations Planning Centre, Domestic and International Transportation, IT, Toronto Ops, and Finance to ensure 3PL's daily operations are effectively executed and the contract appropriately managed. The successful candidate will work with multiple internal and external stakeholders to support key business objectives by improving customer service, controlling costs, and driving process efficiencies within our organization.
Reporting to the Manager of Regional Operations the prime Team Lead accountabilities focus on operational performance management to meet all daily, weekly and monthly targets, as well as to support and provide development of team members. This position works with the Regional Operations Manager on continuous improvement of the processes, metrics and tactical initiatives that impact the facilities. The incumbent must be comfortable working in a flexible and changing environment and requires an individual with exceptional organizational and communication skills, analytical proficiency, and the ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with 3PL operators
- Develop and maintain capital project plans for Regional DCs
- Work closely with internal cross-functional groups and 3PL partners to resolve immediate or upcoming issues and target process improvement, including increased productivity
- Critically assess internal and external processes in terms of impacts, cost and benefit, financial implications, risk, cross-functional dependencies and critical success factors
- The incumbent will be expected to analyze, explain results, and investigate trends in order provide insight to our business partners, management team, on strategic projects or in other analytical areas.
- Support strategic decision-making by identifying additional opportunities - determine business processes improvement initiatives and decision making (e.g. DC operations, Transportation effectiveness, Planning processes); and documenting potential benefits
- Conduct process mapping and business analysis
- Produce regular and ad-hoc reporting and analysis
- Enhance on-going reporting to provide visibility and benefit operations
- Provide support, coaching and mentoring to a team of analysts
- Monitor weekly performance reporting to understand variances to manage risk
- Act as a change agent and driver for identified gaps in current processes and procedures
- Support the 3PLs in developing seasonal plans for throughput that are consistent with the annual budget and Capacity Planning strategies
- Support contract and budget negotiations with 3PLs for Montreal DC, Calgary DC and Returns Centre
- Travel to 3PL locations to support operational or project objectives if required
What you bring
- Degree in Applied Science, Business, Engineering or similar discipline
- 3-5 years of related supply chain experience with superior knowledge in more than one specialized business area such as Logistics, Operations Planning, Transportation, Distribution Operations
- Strong cross-functional knowledge of Canadian Tire Distribution, Logistics and Transportation
- Knowledge of PPA Tables and other data sources including AI an asset
- Knowledge of material handling systems and equipment
- Knowledge of DCCS, IMS, AOM, JDA, Planview, and Yard Smart, P44
- Bilingual is an asset
