Job Summary Are you an up-and-coming Houdini technical artist, someone who is proactive, has great communication skills and a passion for problem-solving? We are looking for a keen technical assistant to help our CFX team with our latest animated feature.

What You'll Get To Do

  • Work closely with our CFX supervision team and pipeline TDs to identify and debug common issues facing production
  • Troubleshoot common problems with animation deliveries, suggest workarounds and fixes
  • Test and validate new releases of Houdini CFX rigs
  • Assist CFX artists with day-to-day issues and glitches and escalate those issues through the right channels when they aren't immediately addressable
  • Assist with the technical workflow for the CFX department
  • Communicate and promote repeatable, pipeline-based workflows that ensure data security and efficiency throughout the whole production
  • Create and update documentation that supports CFX processes
  • Establish close partnerships with Animation and FX staff and other TD groups

What You’ll Need

  • 6 months of experience on an animated/VFX feature, working as a TA, is desirable but not a requirement.
  • Experience with Houdini
  • Experience with cloth, fur and feather tools is preferable
  • Experience using Linux in a production environment is preferable
  • Excellence in proactive problem-solving skills
  • An adaptable approach with the ability to balance your workload, the needs of artists, and production deadlines
  • The ability to efficiently organize and prioritize work across multiple areas under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Willing to learn and contribute to the success of the team and project

This role is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Hybrid Role (Minimum of 3 days a week in the office). At NAS, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine your compensation. We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, location, skills, and experience. The overall market range for this role is typically $60K - 72K CAD. This reflects total compensation; we do not have stock options.
