Position Summary
Centennial College is seeking a Part-Time Small Engine Repair Instructor to deliver practical, hands-on training in the Small Engine Repair (CESD-933) course. The successful candidate will facilitate engaging evening classes and support adult learners in developing applied technical skills in a shop/lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver in-class and lab-based instruction in small engine repair and maintenance
  • Teach fundamentals of two- and four-stroke engine operation
  • Supervise hands-on diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of gas-powered equipment
  • Demonstrate safe use of tools, equipment, and shop practices
  • Support student troubleshooting of fuel, ignition, and electrical systems
  • Evaluate student progress and maintain attendance and grading records
  • Prepare lesson plans aligned with course learning outcomes Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment

Qualifications/Experience

  • Proven experience in small engine repair (e.g., lawn equipment, generators)

  • Strong knowledge of two- and four-stroke engines

  • Experience with fuel systems, carburetion, ignition, and electrical diagnostics

  • Teaching or training experience with adult learners (preferred)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Relevant trade certification or equivalent experience (asset)
