About the role
As a CAD Modelling Engineer/Technologist at Fleetway, you will play a key role in transforming complex ship designs into accurate 2D drawings and 3D models that support the construction, modernization, and sustainment of client vessels. Working with a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will develop and interpret detailed models of equipment, foundations, piping systems, and structural components, ensuring all products meet established shipyard and industry standards.
In this role, you'll support engineering changes by producing high‑quality production drawings and continuously improving accuracy and efficiency in your work. You’ll collaborate closely with peers across engineering disciplines and contribute to the technical foundation of major naval and marine projects.
This position is open to candidates at all experience levels, including new graduates, who bring training or experience in 2D drafting, 3D modelling, and engineering design. Produce clear and accurate 2D drawings—including parts, assemblies, installations, and diagrams—using approved 3D ship models.

Build, update, and interpret 3D models of equipment, foundations, piping systems, and structural or shipboard components.

Prepare production-ready drawings to support approved Engineering Changes.

Apply shipyard, classification, and internal design standards to all work.

Complete drawing extractions and detailing from 3D models with a focus on accuracy and quality.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by meeting and enhancing drawing quality targets.

Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and project team members to support integrated marine design solutions.

Maintain organized documentation and project files, ensuring deliverables are completed on time.
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field;
OR an Engineering Technology Diploma in Naval Architecture, Mechanical, or CAD/Design Technology.
Requirements

0–2+ years of experience in drafting, 3D modelling, or engineering design (new graduates welcome).

Training or experience in 2D drafting and 3D modelling using marine or mechanical design software.

Experience with FORAN or similar CAD tools is considered a strong asset.

Experience working with naval vessels, shipyards, or marine engineering projects is an asset but not required.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Effective communication and teamwork skills to support integrated design work across disciplines.
