About the role

The Position The Medical Learning & Development Manager & Medical Education Governance will drive business and enable relevant customer value by:

  • Driving channel excellence in the execution of the medical education strategy, in alignment with the Therapeutic Area Directors; per the Integrated Business Plan for all applicable therapeutic areas. Providing oversight to the Medical Education team to establish strong learning programs, across all therapeutic areas, delivered in a compliant way in accordance with internal standards and external regulations
  • Increasing the performance of Medical Affairs functional roles, including Medical Science Liaisons, Medical Advisors, Regional Medical Specialists, Medical Education Content Managers, and Medical Information Associates, by building skills, knowledge and competence in customer engagement, business acumen, mindset and other functional skills. They will collaborate with internal and external partners to assess learning needs and then design, develop and deliver high impact learning maps, curricula and support material for Medical customer-facing groups, aligned with adult learning principles.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment: Collaborate with cross functional internal & field partners to assess the skill, knowledge and mindset needs required to achieve outstanding customer engagement and value which positively impact business results. Design and analyze assessments to identify skills and knowledge gaps, including new technology, channels and digital.
  • Development & Implementation: Develops & leverages expertise in adult learning methodologies to design, develop, implement & facilitate impactful learning programs. Build the skill, knowledge & confidence of key customer facing roles to create meaningful behavior change that positively impacts customer value and business results. Accountable to ensure seamless alignment between business strategy, IBP/ICP & capability, including training around Veeva suggestions, customer orchestration and experience, customer planning, etc. Cross-functional collaboration on the local level with Human Pharma training & support roles as well as with Corporate Medicine Operations to ensure consistency and accuracy of information delivered to the field force aligned with customer engagement approach & brand strategies. Ensure continuous improvement of learning systems and curricula to support new technology and channels (e.g. digital). Create metrics and assess effectiveness of specialty training programs.
  • Learning Culture: Fosters a learning culture by providing mentoring, feedback and coaching for enhanced performance and is a role model for growth mindset. Methodologies will include face-to-face, virtual asynchronous and virtual synchronous leveraging current technologies focused 70% on on-the-job implementation, 20% coaching and 10% high impact training.
  • Partner with training vendors and work synergistically with training team in helping to create/sustain a learning & development center of expertise. Fostering best practice sharing amongst the therapeutic areas
  • Responsible for the overall strategy of Medical Education of the Therapeutic Areas (TA's). Lead a Med Ed committee comprised of Therapeutic Area Directors and the Medical Education Managers to harmonize the approach between different TA's.Provide guidance to the TADs on continuous development the Medical Education Managers. Supports the development and implementation of compliant medical education. Accountable for the development and execution of local medical education governance aligned with external regulations and Innovative Medicine Code requirements; including the development of standard operating procedures, how-to-guides, localization of global medical education standards and policies etc
  • Oversight and ongoing assessment of content development/execution vendors; ensuring high quality content development and excellence in execution of Medical Education activities.
  • Development, implementation, and continuous improvement of other Medical Affairs initiatives and special projects, in close collaboration with Medical Affairs leadership
  • Provides leadership in driving integrated medical educational planning across Medical Affairs and cross-functional business partners and ensures effective communication across cross-functional team members

This position is based in the Burlington, Ontario office located at 5180 South Service Road and is flexible. Employees in flexible roles are required to be at the office a minimum of 50% of the time each month and must report to the office when requested and required by their Manager/Department

Requirements

  • BA or BSC or equivalent
  • CCPE basic course + continuing Education courses
  • 5+ years in a pharmaceutical customer-facing role / Functional expertise in the area of medical education;
  • 2+ years Medical Affairs experience preferred
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, coaching skills, project/team leadership required
  • Has demonstrated a growth mindset and change agility
  • Comfortable working within ambiguity
  • Training & development experience would be an asset
  • Excellent communication, presentation & facilitation skills
  • Bilingual (French and English) is an asset

The salary range for this position is from $118,150 - 157,600. Performance, relevant experience and competency in the role will be a key factor in driving the compensation offered. In addition, this position is eligible for a variable sales incentive target opportunity of 15% of the annual base salary.
