As a Crew Leader – Property Care, you are responsible for planning, executing, and delivering detailed horticultural services for primarily high-end residential properties and select commercial sites. You lead a crew of 2–3 team members, mentor developing gardeners, manage job performance, and ensure every property reflects Hutten standards of professionalism and care.

This role combines expert-level gardening skill with full leadership accountability.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Planning & Execution

  • Supervise, coordinate, and execute the day-to-day work activities of a 2–3 person crew
  • Delegate job tasks to ensure completion of property care services to Hutten standards
  • Ensure properties meet customer and company expectations for aesthetics, beauty, and function
  • Oversee and complete warranty work according to Client Care packages
  • Complete contract services according to specifications
  • Regularly communicate with clients about ongoing property care requirements and report to the Account Manager
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and productively

Property Care Services

  • Edging, spring cleanup of gardens, and mulching
  • Ongoing garden management, weeding, and plant care
  • Fall cleanup of gardens and turf and winterization
  • Seasonal and specialized pruning and transplanting
  • Fertilizing and pest management
  • Seasonal colour (annuals and container plantings)
  • Irrigation and lighting maintenance services
  • Collaborate with enhancements team on new plantings, garden expansion, patio repair, cleaning, drainage, and approved improvements

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Inspire and mentor team members for growth and training
  • Onboard new employees and support development
  • Clarify expectations and set clear direction for job execution
  • Hold team members accountable to quality, safety, and productivity standards
  • Participate in recruitment and performance development processes
  • Build trust, address conflict, and lead by example

Organization & Equipment Care

  • Maintain standards of cleanliness and organization on job sites and yard areas
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance on tools, vehicles, and equipment
  • Ensure crew compliance with company and government PPE standards

Project Reporting & Accountability

  • Complete daily planning updates to the Account Manager

  • Track estimated vs. actual job hours

  • Ensure weekly scheduled hours are met

  • Keep accurate crew time records using smartphone timekeeping tools

Property Care operates throughout the growing season, typically from spring through late fall. During slower periods, there may be opportunities to contribute to other departments depending on workload and company needs.
