Operations Manager - North (Full Time)
Location: Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge
Salary: $63,785.00/yr - $79,731.00/yr
Start Date: Immediately

What qualifications are we looking for?

At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;

  • 4th class power engineering ABSA certificate is an asset
  • Pool Operator Certificate
  • Knowledge of Contract reading and Building Drawing reading
  • Class 5 Operators License and current Driver’s Abstract.
  • Experience with Arenas and Ice.
  • HVAC knowledge, operating and repair experience
  • General building maintenance
  • Basic plumbing knowledge
  • Other work-related experience
  • Leadership Experience
  • Good writing and verbal communication skills
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
  • Computer competency is required.
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search;
  • Evidence of a clear Drivers Abstract;
  • Three professional references.
  • Own Transportation

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

Duties and Responsibilities includes:

  • Be responsible for maintaining Shane Homes YMCA to standards set out by the Public Health Act, the Uniform Building Standards Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and YMCA Calgary.
  • Manage HVAC system maintenance in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines, building environmental requirements and YMCA standards in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Plan facility maintenance such as the upkeep and appearance of all interior spaces, conduct preventative maintenance on all equipment that is the responsibility of the YMCA and repairs to all interior and exterior fixtures and fittings as required.
  • Provide daily supervision and hiring of facility maintenance staff, building operators, including prioritizing their work, problem solving, training, and support when required. Provide guidance and oversight to any contractors on site.
  • Oversee the Housekeeping Contract and ensure that the contractual obligations are being done to SAM Standards.
  • Ensure that daily administration tasks such as work order checks and updates, time sheets, and communication log updates are done in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure effective staff communication, both within the branch but also across the Asset Department.
  • Work with the Operations General Manager on Capital Budget requirements, yearly budget setting, monitoring and purchasing.
  • Ensure all mandatory training is current and updated annually including Standard First Aid and CPR, Emergency Procedures, SAM Training, Hazard Assessment, and relevant job-specific training.
  • Part of the on-call rotation for Shane Homes YMCA.
  • Attend meetings as required and work closely with other Association Asset staff to share best practice and working procedures. Training staff or sharing knowledge is an essential way of developing an experienced team.
  • Coordinate volunteer work groups
