The Marketing Technology Manager is a senior technical leader responsible for overseeing and advancing our database marketing (DBM) programs in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC). This role is key to enabling the transformation of our marketing into dynamic, personalized, and data-informed experiences across email, mobile, and advertising channels. Working cross-functionally, the Marketing Technology Manager ensures that our marketing technology ecosystem aligns with business goals, supports advanced automation and segmentation, and complies with regulatory requirements across markets. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on SFMC expertise combined with the strategic ability to guide platform usage, integrations, and create operational efficiencies—ensuring marketing teams have the data, system configurations, and support they need to deliver exceptional customer experiences at scale.
🏢 HYBRID WORK ENVIRONMENT Vancouver-based and Toronto-based team members work in-office every other week (Tues–Thurs). Core attendance is required from 9 AM – 3 PM on these days to support business priorities.
💼 A DAY IN THE LIFE
- Consult, strategize, and work collaboratively with marketing teams. Provide platform and data expertise, offer perspectives drawn from past experience and best-in-class industry practices, and ensure campaigns are properly supported from a data, integration, automation, and compliance standpoint.
- Lead a junior technical team member, providing day-to-day guidance and oversight, while supporting the technical development of the broader DBM team.
- Gather business, functional, and technical requirements; design and wireframe solutions; and manage development of multi-activity journeys.
- Partner with data, product, and technology teams and vendor partners to drive integrations that support and enable marketing requirements and initiatives.
- Continually assess current state to recommend and implement optimizations and standardizations.
- Set up and manage project and issue tracking in Jira and Confluence to support task and workflow management.
- Create and maintain documentation of workflow processes and marketing automations.
- Oversee DBM reporting, including Tableau dashboard management, tracking implementation, support for ad hoc data requests, and issue resolution in partnership with data and analytics teams.
🎯 What You Bring To The Table
- 5+ years of experience in a similar technical SFMC lead role (agency or client-side), including at least 1 year of people management experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience with SFMC, including core modules, Mobile Studio, and Marketing Cloud Advertising (Advertising Studio).
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, SQL, AMPscript, SSJS, and personalization strings, with hands-on experience integrating REST and SOAP APIs and leveraging Git.
- Knowledge of Salesforce CRM data model and integration with SFMC via Marketing Cloud Connect.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate between business/marketing and technical languages seamlessly.
- Skilled in querying Data Views and using Send Logs for advanced tracking, engagement analysis, and performance reporting.
- Working knowledge of email authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), brand authentication standards (BIMI, Apple Branded Mail), and inbox display optimizations (Gmail Annotations, etc.).
- Experience with Einstein features like Send Time Optimization and Predictive Audiences.
- Understanding of relevant US, Canadian, and Australian data privacy and marketing regulations—e.g., CAN-SPAM, TCPA, CASL, PIPEDA, Spam Act 2003, Privacy Act 1988.
- Experience with Tableau preferred; experience with Google Analytics and Looker an asset.
- Experience with third-party platforms or CDPs integrated with SFMC is an asset.
- Familiarity with other enterprise marketing automation platforms (e.g., Adobe, Oracle Responsys, Braze, Iterable, MessageGears) to support platform comparison, evaluation, and strategic decision-making is an asset.
💰 Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $100,000 – $122,000 per annum
(The actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.)
