About the role

The Innovation and Technology Department – Community Services Division is offering Internship employment opportunities as a Programmer Analyst 1 Intern (Desktop Support) to work in the Desktop Support stream.

As the Programmer Analyst 1 – Intern (Desktop Support), you will:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operation and troubleshooting of the Departments information systems.
  • Manage Active Directory including user account creation, deletion, and permissions management.
  • Deploy desktops and ensure they are configured correctly for end users.
  • Perform remote and onsite troubleshooting including hardware and software issues.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain systems software and hardware to end users to maintain effective and efficient system operation.
  • Maintain departmental hardware and software inventory records.
  • Prepare status reports reflecting current and projected workloads.
  • Perform imaging of computers to ensure consistent and efficient deployment.
  • Manage assets including tracking and updating inventory records.
  • Document processes and procedures to ensure knowledge transfer and consistency.
  • Provide superior customer service to all users, ensuring their needs are met promptly and effectively.
  • Other duties as assigned consistent with the job classification.

Your education and qualifications include:

  • Successful completion of at least 1 year of a recognized university/college program in Information Systems and Technology, or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current microcomputer hardware and software.

  • Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Operating Systems including Windows 10.

  • Ability to use Office 365 Suite products.

  • Successful completion of Microsoft A+ certification is preferred.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Organizational and time management skills with the ability to be flexible and responsive to changing priorities.

  • Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships.
