Your Opportunity Under the general direction of the Director, Active Healthy Living, the Assistant Manager, Instructional Recreation Programs is responsible for the development, direction and implementation of instructional sport and recreation opportunities for students and the University Community as a whole. The Assistant Manager, Instructional Recreation Programs, will be responsible for establishing program appropriate co-curricular learning outcomes and designing and implementing all aspects of instructional recreation program evaluation frameworks.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives including reviewing and assessing student learning outcomes
  • Planning and implementing components of co-curricular sport programs and activities
  • Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
  • Evaluating and recommending appropriate work-integrated learning opportunities for students.
  • Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions
  • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Directing the activities of casual staff

Essential Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Recreation and Leisure Studies or similar equivalent education or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience designing and conducting all aspects of sport program evaluation (including process and outcome evaluations)
  • Demonstrated experience with quantitative and qualitative program evaluation methodologies
  • Experience establishing networks of knowledge resources
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Experience working collaboratively with sport instructors, coaches and academic staff
  • Strong consultation skills
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and problem solving skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement, tact and discretion
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with people at all levels
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to issues related to equity, diversity and accessibility
