Primary Function

Reporting to the Youth Hub Coordinator. The primary function of the Youth Hub Instructor is to support in designing, facilitating, and implementing engaging and educational activities for youth participants at the youth hub. This part-time role focuses on fostering personal growth, skill development, and a sense of community among young individuals.

  • Support in developing and delivering specialized programs and workshops tailored to the interests and developmental needs of youth participants.
  • Collaborate with the youth council to provide holistic support programs for youth.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants by adhering to strict safety protocols and addressing any issues promptly.
  • Maintain detailed records of program outcomes, participant progress, and feedback to continuously improve the quality of activities.
  • Communicate regularly with the youth hub specialist and program director to provide updates on participant progress and address any concerns.
  • Support in organizing special events, community projects, and initiatives that promote youth leadership and community involvement.
  • Build and maintain relationships with youth in the hub to support and enhance program offerings.
  • Provide insight on effective outreach and marketing strategies to increase program visibility and participation within the community.
  • Stay informed about current trends, innovations, and best practices in youth development and incorporate them into program planning.
  • Understand, apply, enforce and adhere to Corporate Policies and Procedures, Emergency Procedures, and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
  • Action and report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up
  • Travel between locations as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • 1 year experience in youth education, recreation, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire young people.
  • Proven ability to design and implement effective educational and recreational activities.
  • Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants.
  • Flexibility to work part-time up to 24 hours/week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR C from an accredited organization, or ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification, considered an asset
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Current Mental Health First Aid Certification, or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire.
