Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, the Millwright is responsible for performing mechanical maintenance at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. This full-time role, requiring 2,080 working hours annually, involves close collaboration with other departments and City personnel, and plays a key role in fostering a positive, safety-first work environment.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Millwright is an on-site position located in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Relocation Assistance is available for the successful candidate. Your key responsibilities
- Participates in planning and executing mechanical work projects.
- Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs equipment and infrastructure at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Maintains accurate records and predicts and plans for future maintenance needs.
- Responds to emergency after hours call outs when required.
- Occasionally assists with major maintenance work in other EU Facilities when required.
What you bring
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the wastewater treatment plant.
- Proven maintenance skills, including shaft alignments, bearing replacements, pump and valve re-packs, pump overhauls, valve replacement, etc.
- Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and City policies.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with a demonstrated ability to maintain accurate work records.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand and execute both written and oral instructions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of Grade 12 or a high school equivalency diploma.
- Possession of a valid Alberta Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate.
- Minimum of two (2) years related plant maintenance work experience.
- Vocational training and experience in a mechanical field such as mechanics, pump maintenance, millwright, pipefitter, etc.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Alberta motor vehicle operator's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Valid Standard First Aid certificate and a current Defensive Driving course.
- This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
