Job Details:
Position Title: MLA & MLT Laboratory Assistant
Status: Temporary Part-time
Hours: Up to 24 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Faculty of Health and Life Sciences
Campus/Location: North Campus
Salary: $29.38 per hour

About the Simulation- Clinical Teachers, Nursing Role:
Under the guidance of the Program Manager of Medical Laboratory Sciences, the Medical Laboratory Assistant/Medical Laboratory Technologist Lab Assistant will support the day-to-day operation of our MLA and MLT laboratories. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and evolution of these two new programs. Responsibilities include preparing materials through lab set up and break down, ensuring laboratory safety and cleanliness, and supporting the laboratory facilitator and other staff members within the laboratory space.

Education
- A minimum of a MLA Diploma and registration in good standing with the MLPAO or CSMLS
Experience/Skills
- Minimum 3 years experience working within the MLA capacity
Key skills and responsibilities include:
- Minimum 3 years experience working within the MLA capacity
- Key skills and responsibilities include:
o Proficiency in phlebotomy and practical skills across all five laboratory disciplines
o Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols, including proper handling of chemicals, waste disposal, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
o Ability to accurately perform and/or record lab maintenance or electronic records.
o Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, faculty and Academic Leadership.
o Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and work under deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
