We are Edmonton’s Destination Management and Marketing Organization (DMMO). We also manage two of Edmonton’s award-winning venues, the Edmonton Convention Centre and the Edmonton EXPO Centre. We help tell Edmonton’s story, elevate the Edmonton experience, and drive inbound visitation and economic impact in the visitor economy.
Working together in a one-team approach aligned by our core values, Explore Edmonton’s business units’ market and sell Edmonton as a year-round destination to visit, work, and play in while also developing products and experiences that have a uniquely Edmonton flavour. The Corporate Services - Communications and Global Marketing team at Explore Edmonton helps to support the region’s economy through initiatives that increase positive recognition of Edmonton in the world tourism market. The Global Marketing team works towards increasing Edmonton’s tourism infrastructure and improving the economic impact generated by the industry.
The Global Marketing team inspires travelers to explore Edmonton through out-of-the-box content, stunning visuals, and compelling stories. As part of our year-round marketing strategy, we work in partnership with industry leaders to promote attractions, festivals, business events, sport & culture events, agriculture events, and one of the country’s hottest culinary scenes. We shine a spotlight on Edmonton through digital and social marketing, as well as experiential campaigns, connecting visitors to the best authentic Edmonton experiences. This work contributes to the Explore Edmonton family of brands, including the Edmonton EXPO Centre, Edmonton Convention Centre, KDays, Canadian Finals Rodeo, Farmfair International, Urban Farm, and Explore Edmonton Corporation.
About the Position
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, Digital Content, theDigital Content Specialistrole blends visual storytelling, social media content creation, and digital asset management. The successful candidate will help bring Edmonton’s stories to life through engaging photography, video, and social media content while supporting the organization’s marketing campaigns and brand initiatives.
You will work closely with the marketing team and collaborate with other business units across the organization to capture, create, organize, and distribute visual content that reflects the spirit of Edmonton and resonates with both visitors and locals.
As the successful candidate, it It is critical to have an eye for different photography and videography styles and design, as this position is key in helping to convey the Explore Edmonton brand message.
As the successful candidate you will:

Capture photo and video content that supports Explore Edmonton’s marketing campaigns and storytelling initiatives.

Contribute ideas to the digital content strategy by identifying opportunities to better engage priority audiences.

Edit a variety of visual content including photography, short-form video, and promotional assets for marketing campaigns.
-
Organize, track, and maintain visual assets to ensure files are properly catalogued and backed up.
-
Upload and manage content within digital platforms including CrowdRiff Digital Asset Management (DAM), Vimeo, and other systems.
-
Provide visual assets to internal teams and tourism partners to support marketing initiatives and destination promotion.

Support the creation of social media content across Explore Edmonton channels including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and Pinterest.

Collaborate with the Social Media Engagement Specialist to align content with key audiences, platforms, and campaign objectives.

Create social media graphics using templates (e.g., Canva) and write engaging captions that reflect the Explore Edmonton brand.

Schedule and manage social media content through HeyOrca or other social media management platforms.
-
Pull social media performance reports and provide insights to support ongoing content optimization.

Track project status and collaborate with team members using Asana.

Contribute to marketing planning, campaign coordination, and metric benchmarking initiatives.

Track and submit monthly expenses through Concur Solutions as required.
What You Will Bring
-
Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, digital media, tourism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum three years of experience in marketing, digital content creation, or social media management.
-
Demonstrated experience capturing and editing photo and video content for digital platforms.
-
Proficiency with photo and video editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve, or similar tools.
-
Strong understanding of social media platforms, including how to create, edit, schedule, and analyze content performance.

Strong storytelling ability and an understanding of how visual content supports brand identity.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Comfortable capturing content in a variety of environments including events and on-location shoots.

Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a team environment.

A passion for showcasing Edmonton as a destination for both visitors and locals.
