Position Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Education and Information Coordinator is a member of the Department of Education & Learning at St Joe's. This position aids in the planning, organizing, and integration of education & information projects to deliver specific measured results. The position will support multiple projects within education & information.

The Education Coordinator is responsible for organizing and coordinating project activities, under the direction of the Director, Education & Learning. This position assist hospital staff, physicians, educators, and learners with education matters and provides support for client needs. Help with the Centre for Education, Learning and Simulation (CELS) online resources (e-books, e-journals, Archive) and provides administrative support for the development of information projects, meetings, and work plans.

QUALIFICATION:

  • Undergraduate Degree in a related field required. Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum one year relevant experience in an academic health sciences centre
  • Experience with Knowledge-based information services
  • Literature searching experience, preferably using MEDLINE/PubMed and other key health sciences databases
  • Experience delivering information literacy instruction
  • Experience providing customized training on bibliographic database search skills
  • Knowledge of health sciences resources, scholarly communication issues and trends including: open access, metrics, publication ethics, journal selection, reporting guidelines, authorship etc.
  • Proficiency in the use of common computer software applications and specialized library technologies with experience using bibliographic databases, library discovery systems, Microsoft Office products, citation management tools, web content management systems
  • Experience delivering virtual and in-person reference services to diverse users
  • Demonstrated ability to deploy surveys, track responses and support for related activities
  • Ability to keep current with and embrace new technologies
  • Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with various stakeholders, community partners, and team members
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain strong working relationships with all team members, stakeholders, and community partners
  • Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills that are supported by a flexible and creative approach to resolving issues
  • Ability to manage through ambiguity and complexity
  • Ability to effectively translate details into verbal, written, or graphical materials
  • Self-motivated with exceptional time management, organizational and prioritization skills in order to effectively address multiple tasks and timelines in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes relationships with clients from designated programs, units and departments across the network
  • Supports clients with information monitoring strategies (e.g. alerts)
  • Responds to general reference inquiries from clients that can include, but are not limited to retrieving citation information, accessing online resources, and locating specific factual data
  • Communication of CELS initiatives and events using e-resources in collaboration with Public Affairs
  • Supports and delivers educational programs and services in information and knowledge management, health resources and bibliographic research
  • Supports the needs of the CELS clientele across the system
  • Support online resources for staff, students and physicians in specific program areas
  • Assist with the development of future-oriented, progressive services and resources in collaboration with clients
  • Assist with developing an information technology plan for support services
  • Supports surveys deployment, data collection and other research activities of CELS
  • Provides orientation sessions for new staff, learners and physicians on library services and products
  • Supports activities of the Department of Education & Learning as required (e.g. simulation, learner onboarding, special events, etc.)
  • Promotes CELS services system wide
  • Supports the activities of the Department of Education & Learning
  • Perform other duties as required to support education and clinical mandate
  • Collaborate with all system teams
  • Supports committees as assigned
  • Participate on ward rounds
