About the role
GWLRA is a leader in both the commercial and multi-residential real estate industries. We believe in generating value by creating vibrant, sustainable communities that engage, excite, and inspire. Our people live our values through the work they do and the results they deliver. Our core values are keeping our word, working better together and embracing diversity.
We are currently on the hunt for an experienced Manager, Security and Safety, to help us ensure the security of the property and safety of all building occupants. The successful candidate will own the safety and security umbrella for this property alongside the Property Manager and Director Property Manager. You will oversee a team of contract security guards while ensuring that the building’s staffing demands are consistently met.
As this is a unique property, with employees at various levels working within, we are looking for a security professional who not only understands security processes and policies but also has previous security management experience. This role requires a high level of diplomacy, tact, and common sense and the successful candidate will be well versed in dealing with all levels of management with skill and ease.
We are looking for a hands-on leader who can oversee a contract security team, ensuring professionalism, consistency, empathy, and efficiency in all matters.
This role has a strong administrative component, so having strong attention to detail and organizational skills are important. You will be responsible for executing security programs and ensuring that the property is compliant with our corporate national security standards. Outside of having a general knowledge of the criminal code as well as strong familiarity with provincial legislation such as the Trespass to Property Act, Mental Health Act and similar legislation, you will be tasked with using your knowledge and judgement to deal with a variety of daily situations that occur at this property.
You will have the ability to impact and lead the decision-making practices for anything related to security and safety at this property and will measure performance utilizing pre-defined KPI’s.
You will collaborate with staff, property management partners, the city, local police, and the fire department. A collaborative and strong relationship approach is a must have. Additionally, you should be passionate about security and life safety but also recognize the importance of customer service as this is one of GWLRA’s core values.
