Position Title
Student Wellbeing Engagement Assistant
Position Summary
The Student Wellbeing Engagement Assistant is an important support for providing wellbeing events and education for RDP students. This position assists with social media content creation and engagement as well as with event creation, management, and promotion, under the direction of the Mental Health & Wellbeing Coordinator. This work directly impacts the success of student mental health, consent education and other wellbeing programs, and the incumbent will be passionate about these topics and willing to research and create content to support these areas.
Position Responsibilities
Event Planning and Management:
- Assists the Mental Health & Wellbeing Coordinator with event planning and management, for events related to Mental Health, Consent Education and other student wellbeing initiatives
- May deliver some workshops and represent Student Supports at various events
- Enters events into appropriate software and calendars
- Manages and tracks registrations and attendance
- Ensures evaluation surveys are sent out, collected, and results are tracked
- Sets up and takes down for events, including technology setup and troubleshooting
- Engages and communicates with volunteers, provides them a schedule and supports their role for a variety of events
- Supports Mental Health & Wellbeing Coordinator in volunteer recruitment and retention
- Supports volunteers in tracking their hours for events
- Collects and tracks data related to events, workshops, and pop ups
- Attends collaboration and planning meetings for larger events and projects to provide input and ideas and support event logistics
- Assists with workshop facilitation by monitoring participants comments, reactions and responses; troubleshooting standard issues; and other tasks as assigned
Promotion:

Researches and develops relevant social media posts related to Mental Health, Consent Education and Wellbeing using pre-determined sources.

Promotes Community Helpers, Counselling, and Consent Education events on social media and through other Marketing and Communication strategies

Creates and executes educational bulletin boards and other wellbeing promotional materials on campus

Engages with respondents on social media including knowing when and how to report concerning comments

Cross-promotes other RDP events on social media
-
Connects with various departments on campus to collaborate in the education and promotion of mental health and wellbeing, especially Community Helpers programs and training.

Collaborates with Marketing and Communications on promotion best practices

Promotes relevant training, such as Community Helpers programming or It Takes All of Us

Develops other communication channels, such as podcast or newsletter
Required Qualifications

Two (2) years of post-secondary training in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field

Previous experience in a Mental Health related position (paid or volunteer) is an asset

Demonstrated aptitude with computer software and programs such as MS Office Suite and graphic design (Canva)

Ability to promote mental health programs, projects, and/or initiatives

Knowledge of best practices for social media tools and web applications

Excellent interpersonal and online communication skills

Effective trauma-informed communication skills
-
Experience researching and presenting information in a visual format
-
Good time management skills and able to keep tasks organized
Preferred Qualifications

Mental Health First Aid or equivalent is an asset.

Benefits and Compensation Information
An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.

Position Summary
