About the role
Your Opportunity:
This position will be required to operate all commercial laundry equipment as well as transport soiled and clean linen. Transport, sort, weigh and record soiled linen and apparel for processing. Sorts and folds clean linen and apparel. Inspects clean linen for damages and stains and identifies items for repair, rewash or discard. Performs PH and Titration testing. Check and maintain laundry chemical levels and replace as necessary. Perform regular safety inspections and identifies potential hazards. Make recommendations on required laundry supplies. Communicates to the supervisor any requested quota changes, linen shortages and equipment problems.
Description:
As a Laundry staff, you will be responsible for transporting, preparing and washing soiled linen and distributing clean linen and apparel. Your typical duties may include folding, repairing, pressing, stacking and storing linen supplies and apparel; sorting and weighing soiled linen; loading, unloading and operating washing and drying equipment; preparing surgical textile packs; monitoring and adjusting workflow and volume to maximize equipment utilization. You will ensure equipment is working properly, report potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Knowledge and operation of computers and smartphones. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform repetitive movements for the duration of your shift. Physically capable to lift up to 25 lbs and push and pull up to 50 lbs of force.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Good Interpersonal Skills Required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of Laundry Chemical or equivalent courses preferred. Industrial Laundry experience preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format. Physical Effort/Strength Required: Pushing and pulling of laundry carts. Standing for the majority of the shift. Repetitive hand and arm motion. Regular forward bending and reaching.
