About the role
Huawei Canada has an immediate permanent opening for a Researcher. About the team: The Intelligent Cloud Infrastructure Lab aims to innovate technologies, algorithms, systems, and platforms for next-generation cloud infrastructure. The lab addresses scalability, performance, and resource utilization challenges in existing cloud services while preparing for future challenges with appropriate technologies and architectures. Additionally, the lab aims to understand industry dynamics and technology trends to create a robust ecosystem
About the job:
- Design and implement high-performance data pipelines and caching for training, fine-tuning, and inference (Storage for AI).
- Develop GPU-aware prefetching, scheduling, and data placement strategies (Storage for AI).
- Build efficient management and acceleration systems for massive small-file/sample datasets (Storage for AI).
- Create vector-friendly storage primitives and indexing to power RAG and similarity search (Storage for AI).
- Apply ML-driven tiering and hot/cold data identification (AI for Storage).
- Optimize compression and deduplication policies with AI (AI for Storage).
- Build anomaly detection, self-healing, and AI Ops for predictive capacity & performance planning (AI for Storage).
- Enhance intelligent QoS, cost, and reliability optimization to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) (AI for Storage).
- Design unified metadata and consistency protocols (Data Lake / Lakehouse & Hybrid-Multi-Cloud).
- Develop cross-region/cloud data orchestration, replication, and policy-based governance (Data Lake / Lakehouse & Hybrid-Multi-Cloud).
- Address data sovereignty, compliance, and lifecycle management (Data Lake / Lakehouse & Hybrid-Multi-Cloud).
