The Department of Neurophysiology at The Hospital for Sick Children is seeking a Permanent Full-time Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologist to join our team.

As a Neurodiagnostic Technologist, you'll play a key role in delivering safe, skilled, and compassionate care while performing advanced diagnostic testing procedures. You'll work closely with children and families in a collaborative clinical setting. Here's What You'll Get To Do The Neurophysiology Technologist provides/ensures the competent and compassionate care of children (and their families) while preforming one or more of the following procedures: Electroencephalography (EEG) and Evoked Potentials (EP) an Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) in the Neurophysiology Lab. Additional training duties may include the ability to perform all routine and advanced level neurophysiological testing without supervision in areas such as: epilepsy monitoring, invasive monitoring, cortical stimulation, functional mapping and Magnetoencephalography (MEG).

This involves obtaining a current clinical neurological history of the patient, educating the patient/family about the procedure, preparing the patient for the procedure, performing the procedure utilizing specialized computer and/or video/digital equipment, producing a detailed technical report and consulting with other health care professionals.

The Neurophysiology Technologist is also responsible for operating the machinery/equipment to aid in the patient's responses, as well as maintaining the equipment in good working condition, which includes performing routine/emergency testing and troubleshooting.

In addition, this position may require participating in teaching, training and other educational activities. This position may require working after hours, weekend and/or evening work on an on-call basis and the ability to work flexible hours.

Essential Requirements Here's What You'll Need:

  • Registered Technologist (R.E.T.) Certificate from the CBRET.**Please include proof of CBRET registration in your cover letter/resume (ie copy of CBRET certification).
  • A graduate from a Canadian Board of Registered Electrophysiology Technologists (CBRET) approved Electrophysiology based program from a recognized college or teaching hospital.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical Neurophysiological experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively, efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment in stressful situations to meet patient care needs.
  • Effective computer skills and can meet continuing education requirements.
  • Patient and family-care oriented.
  • Understand importance and demonstrates ability to foster a culture of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

Preferred Requirements

  • University background in sciences.
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Electroneurophysiology Technologists (CAET) **or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Current BCLS certificate. **or obtain within 6 months of hire.
