About the role
OBJECTIVES:
Provide strategic leadership and operational management of the Nucor Rebar Fabrication Branch office, shop and field placing operations consistent with Nucor's vision in becoming the world's safest steel company and upholding Nucor's values while achieving strategic goals which will include the oversight and development of teammates at the Branch, coordination with Sales Management team and other Branch Managers within the Region to achieve such goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead and promote safety culture within the Branch and within Nucor Rebar Fabrication, including demonstrating concern for personal safety of all teammates and exemplifying our "Safety First" culture. Understanding and ensuring compliance with all applicable safety rules, regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Lead and promote the Nucor Mission and Cultural Values, including safety philosophy, customer focus, treating others with respect, inspiring trust in others, and fostering open and honest communication.

Responsible for all aspects of Branch operations and profit and loss for Branch, including detailing, shop, field and managing and coordinating with estimating/sales teams,

Communicate clear expectations for teammates and coach them to maximize their potential, while effectively delegating. Motivate teammates by caring about their success, proactively sharing information, actively seeking, and providing timely feedback.

Manage and understand market conditions and market forces. Evaluate short and long-term market and competitive trends and manage and understand contracting process. Responsible for developing and ensuring successful customer relationships and vendor relationships. Develop and maintain relationships in local construction and business community and industries.

Build talent by coaching supervisors and teammates at the Branch and working with peers in the Region to identify and develop future leaders.

Support aligning branch business and development goals with regional goals and the Nucor Mission and Cultural Values. Ensure effective implementation of all other Nucor Rebar Fabrication policies and directives relevant to branch operations.

Direct all Branch supervisors, foremen and teammates with respect to the day-to-day operations of the facility, including safety, customer service, operations as a rebar contractor, production volume, cost, and quality.

Oversee the hiring, training, motivation, evaluation, and work of all location personnel so that all employees perform effectively and efficiently.

Collaborate with the sales team to develop and implement a comprehensive commercial, marketing, sales, and bidding strategy within the Branch, focusing on the supply and install package to promote the Rebar Contractor Model. Will also collaborate with other Branches within the Region to maximize sales for the Company as a whole.

Communicate and clarify follow-through with all company policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Currently Qualified to work in Canada.
- Ten years of reinforcing steel detailing, fabrication, placing or related steel industry experience, with at least five years' experience as a supervisor and/or department manager.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree, or business training and experience.
- 5 Years of construction industry experience (field, engineering, other construction products).
- Knowledge of related business, labour relations and industrial regulations and standards.
- OSHA 300 Industrial and Construction Safety Certification or equivalent.
- Experience with implementing continuous improvement and/or related project management experience in implementing improvements.
- Ability to work effectively as a team leader/member on projects, with a strong aptitude for problem-solving.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Effective verbal and communication skills.
SPECIAL DEMANDS
- Respond to urgent issues that arise at the Branch.
- Work in a noisy manufacturing environment with known hazards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Walking, sitting, standing, bending.
- Using hands to operate objects, tools, computers, and other electronic equipment.
- Lifting/handling computers and related equipment (typically not more than 25 pounds).
- Moderate noise level.
