Our client is seeking an experienced estate litigator to build and lead their own practice within a collaborative, modern, and growth-oriented firm.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and grow a self-sustaining estate litigation practice within the firm.
• Manage a sophisticated caseload of estate litigation matters, including:
• Complex estate disputes
• Wills variation claims
• Undue influence claims
• Dependant relief claims and other contentious estate matters
• Take carriage of files from inception through resolution, including:
• Client strategy and advising
• Pleadings, discoveries, applications, mediations, and trials
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and referral sources.
• Play a key role in business development and practice growth initiatives.
• Mentor and support junior lawyers and staff, contributing to training, development, and team culture.
• Collaborate with other practice groups on cross-over litigation matters.
• Contribute to the firm's broader culture, values, and long-term strategic growth.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of call with strong experience in estate litigation (more senior candidates are encouraged to apply).
• Commercial litigation experience is a strong asset.
• Proven experience handling complex and contentious estate litigation files.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain a book of business (portable practice or strong referral network preferred).
• Strong advocacy, drafting, and strategic litigation skills.
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior lawyers and/or staff is highly desirable.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the desire to build and grow a practice within a firm platform.
• Excellent client management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
