About the role

This position has a term length of one year plus one day.

Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote work and in-person at Enterprise Square, Edmonton. This position requires mobility to attend in-person interviews and meetings at the North Campus.

Position Summary

Are you a high-performing recruiter who thrives in the fast lane and can juggle multiple priorities at the same time? We are looking for a Talent Acquisition Specialist (TAS) who brings a high-energy, customer-centric approach to our dynamic team. As a subject matter expert, you won’t just be following a process—you will be a champion of our enhanced services offering through full-cycle recruitment practices, and will have an opportunity to bring your experience and ideas to the table as we elevate candidate experience and evolve hiring practices at the university.

Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, Immigration and Records (TAIR), you will serve as a strategic recruitment partner to clients across campus. You will get to contribute to projects and resource development as we evolve and enhance our newly implemented recruitment system or application Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC). Whether you are navigating complex collective agreements or proactively sourcing the next great hire, your goal is to provide seamless, professional, and compliant recruitment support across the University.

Shared Services is a close-knit community of smart, approachable people who collaborate, exchange knowledge and identify solutions. Our team of experts problem-solves by collaborating with Centres of Expertise (centres providing strategic expertise and specialized services in specific functional areas), faculty and staff in order to see the whole end-to-end process and find a solution that works for the entire community. We provide advice, guidance and leadership in process, quality and accuracy.

  • Full-Cycle Excellence: Drive the recruitment process from intake to offer, ensuring high-quality hires and an efficient, respectful and equitable experience for every candidate while ensuring hiring managers are supported in identifying the top talent.

  • Recruitment Technology: Leverage best-in-class recruitment tools, including LinkedIn Recruiter Seats and Indeed, to identify, engage, and attract top-tier talent through modern best practices aligned through our ATS and advertising practices.

  • Strategic Advisement: Partner with Hiring Managers and HR Partners to develop effective postings, interview guides, and selection strategies in alignment with the university policies and practices.

  • Operational Processes: Oversee the integrity of the Duty to Accommodate (DTA) and Recall processes, investigating issues, resolving problems, and maintaining data accuracy and reporting.

  • Global Talent & Relocation: Collaborate with our Immigration Consultants on recruitment involving foreign nationals to support hiring managers with expert guidance on relocation policies to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.

  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor talent acquisition and immigration metrics to provide monthly reporting and recommend innovative ways to automate or standardize processes for better organizational efficiency.

  • Training & Project: Contribute to resource development and to TAIR-facilitated training sessions.

  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure all activity aligns with U of A guidelines, collective agreements, and legislative requirements, including the oversight of recruitment records and data integrity.

  • Education: Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline, preferably in Human Resources or Business Administration, would be an asset. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. CPHR membership or RPR certification is an asset but not required.

  • Experience: 5 years of progressive experience, preferably in talent acquisition/recruitment or Human Resources, is required. Familiarity working in a unionized/public sector environment, or past experience in a high-volume recruitment environment (e.g. staffing agency) would be an asset

  • Technical Savvy: Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite is required. Experience with Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC), ATS implementation, or PeopleSoft is considered a strong asset.

  • Sourcing Expertise: Demonstrated ability to use advanced sourcing applications to find and attract passive talent (LinkedIn, Indeed, networking, etc)

  • Service Mindset: Exemplary client service skills with a genuine drive to exceed expectations and build respectful, relational professional connections.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of Canadian provincial legislation and working within a unionized/public sector environment.

  • Agility: A high comfort level working in a solution-driven, fast-paced culture with strict deadlines and evolving priorities. Ability to pivot and adjust approach to meet operational needs is a highly desired skill set.

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills with the ability to articulate complex information clearly to diverse audiences. Additional language skills, particularly French, would be an asset.
