We are currently looking for a**Clinical Research Project Assistant (CRAI)to join theNew And Innovative Trial (NAIT)section within theClinical Trials Support Unit (CTSU),**part of the Haematology/Oncology program at SickKids. As a Clinical Research Project Assistant, you will work collaboratively with the hematology, oncology, and BMT multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, project manager and project coordinators. With guidance and supervision from senior CRAs, you will be leading or assisting with all aspects and activities involved in management of investigator-initiated, consortium and industry-funded clinical trials. This is an exciting opportunity for you to use your clinical research knowledge and gain additional experience in a collaborative, dynamic and fast-paced oncology clinical research setting.

Here's What You'll Get To Do:

  • Collaborate with clinical teams from different areas of the hospital to support or lead patient-facing activities, including but not limited to, consenting, screening, enrollment, administration of study tests etc.
  • Review patients' health records, abstract data, complete CRFs, update research files and update/maintain internal and external research databases.
  • Assist with regulatory tasks, such as research file maintenance, document organization, and audit preparation
  • Submit or assist with regulatory submissions such as SRB, REB and Health Canada initial applications, study amendments, renewals and closures
  • Archive study documents and materials
  • Assist with drafting or revising study documents such as ICFs, checklists, protocols and CRFs
  • Oversee shipment of research specimens such as blood, marrow, and other tissues
  • Oversee study kit and supply inventory
  • Complete research patient billing review
  • Monitor study compliance and collaborate with medical staff to assure completeness and accuracy of documentation, facilitate use of the protocol, as well as maintain quality assurance through accurate, complete, and timely data reporting
  • In collaboration with other members of the team, develop queries of databases to produce administrative and/or research related reports.
  • Develop or use tracking tools for study related activities and assist senior CRAs with their use.
  • Schedule, support and participate in meetings with various stakeholders/collaborators such as study team, study monitors/auditors, finance department, Research Institute etc.
  • Be an active member of the interdisciplinary team; collaborate and problem solve thoughtfully, effectively and efficiently
  • Contribute to other areas and functions of the team or division as requested
  • Assist with or oversee training of new team members, interns, volunteers or students

Here's What You'll Need:

Essential Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in a related discipline -1 - 2 years' experience in clinical research in a hospital, contract research organization (CRO) or pharmaceutical industry setting is required.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Suite
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as within a team
  • Able to adapt quickly to changing demands in a past-faced environment
  • Demonstrates a compassionate, patient, and respectful approach when supporting pediatric patients, families, and hospital staff.

Assets

  • Certification as a Clinical Research Professional is an asset and will be considered a requirement when eligible.
  • Prior Research and/or work experience in a hospital environment is preferred
  • Prior experience in oncology is a strong asset

Employment Type

  • Full-time, 1-year contract with opportunity for permanency after 1 year.
  • 35-hour work week, hybrid option after 6 months
