The Heavy Duty Cleaner is responsible for performing deep, industrial, and physically demanding cleaning tasks to maintain a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and sanitation across assigned facilities. This role involves the use of specialized cleaning equipment and chemicals and supports both routine and periodic cleaning operations.

Key Responsibilities

Deep & Industrial Cleaning Operations (60% Time Spent)

• Perform deep cleaning of floors, washrooms, stairwells, service corridors, and common areas
• Operate auto scrubbers, floor machines, pressure washers, and other specialized equipment
• Strip, wax, polish, and scrub floors as required
• Clean and sanitize garbage rooms, recycling areas, and waste containers
• Remove stains, gum, graffiti, and spills from floors, walls, and exterior surfaces
• Conduct high dusting of vents, signage, ledges, and ceilings

Equipment & Area Maintenance (20% Time Spent)

• Clean mechanical rooms, service areas, and utility spaces as assigned
• Maintain cleanliness of entrances, sidewalks, parkades, and exterior areas
• Perform seasonal cleaning tasks such as leaf removal, snow clearing, and salting
• Ensure proper use, care, and storage of cleaning equipment

Health, Safety & Compliance (10% Time Spent)

• Follow all company health, safety, and WHMIS procedures
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and responsibly
• Report hazards, damage, or incidents promptly to management

Operational Support & Other Duties (10% Time Spent)

• Respond to urgent or special cleaning requests as required
• Assist with supply handling and equipment setup
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Site Manager

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience in commercial or industrial cleaning preferred
• Knowledge of floor care, cleaning chemicals, and specialized equipment
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Professional and customer service-oriented approach
• Physically capable of performing heavy and repetitive cleaning tasks

Working Conditions

• Work may occur during day, evening, night, or overnight shifts
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals, waste materials, and varying weather conditions
• Work may include weekends or holidays based on operational needs

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy cleaning equipment and materials
• Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and stand for extended periods
• Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks
